  1. Why do I keep doing this? Bonds' home run rate through 1998 season: 1 per 18 ABs Bonds' home run rate after 1998 season (also after he began using BALCO PEDs, shrunk his testicles, suffered from back acne, watched his head expand and put on 40 pounds of muscle in a superhuman length of time): Better than 1 per 9 ABs Bonds MVP trophies before 1998: Three Bonds MVP trophies after 1998 (also after he began using BALCO PEDs, shrunk his testicles, suffered from back acne, watched his head expand and put on 40 pounds of muscle in a superhuman length of time): Four
  2. And LPs disappeared as CD sales took off. This wasn't coincidence. Furthermore the advantage of CDs was their "perfect sound always" or whatever they claimed. No scratches or skips from normal use.
  3. By definition, when a new format (CD) completely displaces the previous dominant format (LP), it can't be a "false dawn".
  4. I found her jazz column annoying, but you do realize she's a columnist who writes humor pieces, right?
  5. In your opinion, Dave. For me, when I was seven or eight, I got a sip of Dad's beer after a flawless game of catch (no drops, no wild throws - and Dad didn't believe in lunging for a throw, if you didn't put it in his glove, it was your ass running after it). Ever since, I've loved baseball and beer, without needing anytime to acquire a "taste" for it. On the other hand, Chet Baker's singing has sucked since day one. IMHO, of course.
  6. Seems to me you should send a message to Tanner listing the reasons you now have for why it wouldn't have survived (or even existed in the first place) and ask him why he says it "survived".
  7. I saw something about this on CNN's website or something but hadn't bothered to look at it. At least the little girls don't strap on some ginormous fake boobs; only fake nipples. Seriously f-ed up, if you ask me.
  8. What was Tanner smoking to say that tape "survived" if they were contractually obligated to broadcast it live and not record anything? (Buddy Guy and Big Mama Thornton sounds like a cool thing to see released though)
  9. One of my wife's close friends, Natalie Douglas, a terrific singer in the jazz/cabaret/soul field, sent out an email a couple of years ago that she and her husband got in the cash cab and won a bunch of money. I tuned in for their episode and was quite impressed. A number of tough questions they got right, I think they got out with nearly two thousand bucks. I like the fact that they use "Millionaire" lifelines like asking a passerby for help.
  10. That's the thing about this - these are two different shows, apparently. I still wonder though about Tanner's knowledge of the station's archives. When did he know that the tape "survived" and how do we know that it still does, and is relatively easy to locate?
  11. Good (or bad, depending on your perspective) taste in cover models?
  12. Get with it, man. Its Chris F. Botti.
  13. Well, ask Lee Tanner - he ought to recall.
  14. "keep this in mind"? How about "Wow! Grant Green performance video? We definitely want to be all over that, and best of all, we've started working with that TV station recently."
  15. I have no idea what Stevie song you think has been ripped off, but I have to say: 1. Didn't Tritt start out as a "hat act"? He's certainly gone surprisingly far afield for that tune. 2. As I learned when I subjected myself to country music when I got my first radio gig, Travis Tritt can flat out sing. Whoops, just heard the fiddle part. Still not making it as a country tune though.
  16. That piece about bra shopping brings back memories. I once dated a woman who was very self-conscious about her own DDs (36DD to be precise, iirc) and she told practically the exact same story about bra shopping.
  17. If he's certain its survived then he must have a copy or know who does or at least where it would be. Then the issue is purchase/licensing and getting permission from estate(s), none of which should be difficult to do, IMO. Seems to me that if the footage has really survived and is in good condition, getting it to market should not be a difficult task.
  18. Sorry, I interpreted "being" as present tense, its being done within the grooves of this here recording.
  19. If there is "serious" jazz playing in that context, then It turns out I've never been a jazz fan OR We have such divergent definitions of the term that it has lost all meaning I am however willing to listen one more time to that clip if you can explain to me where the jazz playing is in that clip.
  20. Maybe you people will fucking start respecting what I say about my own fucking collection of losers. A miraculous one run lead simply gave them another unique way to fuck it away and make the embarrassment even worse. I knew Damon could take Bard deep and once he did, I was certain it was over. Varitek should be strung up by his testicles for calling a second slider in a row to Mr. Leigh Teixeira. Fucking moronic piece of shit asshole. Yes, there is now a tie for the WC race with about 50 games to go. The Red Sox have four at home against Detroit then go to Texas for three, while the Rangers have three at Cleveland before the weekend series and the Rays get the Angels for 3 and Toronto at home for three. I predict that the Rangers will have at least a three game lead over the Red Sox by Sunday night, who will be looking up at the Rays as well. With Chicago, Toronto, the Yankees and Tampa Bay standing between the Red Sox and their next series victory against Baltimore September 8-9, they will be ten games off the pace in the wild card, 15 to the Yankees in the division, on September 7. Anyone care to contradict me?
  21. Check it out: The man who made the steroids that made Barry Bonds a home run record-setter and accused felon says its "definitely plausible" that Ortiz tested positive due to use of a legal supplement. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball...co_chemist.html
  22. I believe it was at William Patterson College that Eric Alexander first encountered Norman Simmons. Marcus Roberts came out of the Florida State music program, also spent time at another school in North Florida whose name escapes me at the moment.
  23. Keep trying Timmy. Bonds put on 40 pounds of muscle in three months time. Whatever Ortiz did on the field, his body never changed, and certainly never changed in the specific manner that EXPERTS say can only come from hard-core steroid use. This is the sort of thing I mean by "more proof". There is overwhelming evidence that Bonds used steroids, including a positive test for the specific steroid created and sold by BALCO. In the case of Ortiz, there is a single positive test which could have been triggered by use of a legal supplement. I said "put the needle in ... ass" For Bonds, there is his involvement with BALCO - every single athlete involved with BALCO was given PEDs, how can anyone believe in their right mind that Bonds only got flax seed oil and arthritis balm? For Bonds, there is the positive test result from the 2003 survey tests, for BALCO steroids. For Bonds, there are the positive results for steroid use from BALCO submitted urine samples. As a matter of law, Bonds may get them thrown out because his buddy won't snitch on him. As a matter of common sense, it is yet another nail in his coffin. For Bonds there are the doping calendars. What is there for Ortiz? A reportedly positive result that may have come from a legal supplement. Give me more and I'll hang him by his nuts.
  24. What I can't understand is the continued success of jazz programs in colleges and universities. In such an environment, what are they preparing these future jazz musicians for? Get people prepared for careers as music teachers for a new generation of future music teachers? Maybe Free can explain what his music program teaches and what his students have to look forward to.
  25. Supplements, Timmy, supplements. I don't think he's stupid enough to believe vitamins called the positive test. And it is an established fact that at least one legally available supplement contained a steroid that would cause a positive test. As for Bonds knowingly using - we've gone over this over and over again. No one with a brain can believe that he simply used flaxseed oil and an arthritis balm. And furthermore, the man who can definitively say what Bonds was told about these BALCO products is refusing to testify. He's never stood up and said "I never told Barry Bonds that these were steroids. Bonds didn't know these were steroids. Hell, he came to me and said his balls were shrinking, and I had to feign ignorance!" No, his trainer and friend has refused to testify, taking the hit for Bonds, and for what? How much money will come his way or has already been put somewhere for his future use?
