  1. Dave's tongue was firmly in cheek in his last couple of posts. As for the claim of clomid - surely there are legitimate medical reasons to prescribe it, right? I mean, are we now presuming that Manny is a hard core juicer but went to a Doctor for a prescription of a female fertility drug to jump start his testicles into producing testosterone? Doesn't make a lot of sense, even for Manny, and he does have all of the passed steroid tests up til now. There's an awful lot of contradictory information coming out - it was steroids, it wasn't steroids. Now its clomid
  2. Its 100% bull shit to extrapolate anything from this positive test and 50 game suspension into any sort of aspersion whatsoever on the 2004 or 2007 World Championships. And I say a hearty "FUCK YOU" to anyone who wants to make that claim. Dangerous Dan hath spoken.
  3. I didn't vote because there was no option "I'd be swinging elbows until I broke his nose."
  4. I cannot wait until Daniel Bard is in the bullpen and Javier Lopez is anywhere else but Boston. Not that Lopez is to blame for last night's debacle, but he's been the weakest bullpen arm since he inexplicably managed to stick with the team, a LOOGY who doesn't even get lefties out consistently, throwing side-arm slop that makes you sweat bullets. Meantime, check out this game report from the Globe for AAA Pawtucket: This is the guy who wowed everyone in March by touching 100 on the gun and allowing no runs in 10 innings in major league spring games. Add him to Okajima, Saito, Delcarmen and Ramirez and you've got too many arms to know what to do with. And considering that they always start a rookie with relatively low-leverage innings, how would you like to face 100 MPH fastball in the sixth inning? And imagine if he came in after Wake - 100 MPH would probably look like 200!
  5. Too skinny, not that appealing, but I'd do her. Satisfied, Jim?
  6. Its those $2600 tickets in front, with the separate entrance (no way to get in for the hoi polloi), free food (with waiter service) and not enough takers. They dropped the price to $1250 a seat and instituted some sort of "bonus" policy for people who paid the higher prices, and yet its still empty or nearly so for a Red Sox series. Its embarrassing for the franchise, IMHO, and I think the stadium is less of a tenth man because the passionate committed fans are farther away from the field.
  7. I prefer the earlier part of that scene when he demonstrates the dance steps. When you consider his weight, he's fortunate to have lived as long as he did. RIP.
  8. I don't get that - the ad that is running for the DVD release has Roarke saying "I'm just a broken down piece of meat" or something like that while he gets teary-eyed. Doesn't make it look life-affirming to me, unless its affirming that oftentimes, life sucks. My wife would never go to see this but I got her to put it on the Netflix list and it just arrived. I'll be watching this weekend when she goes to visit her Mom for a Mother's Day weekend.
  9. I am so relieved to see that the Sox held on last night. I can't believe I stayed up - I am going to be the walking dead all day today - but when Francona called on Papelbon for a 5 out save, and he started the ninth by allowing an infield single and then plunking Jeter, I was certain he was going to blow it, and I knew I'd sleep worse if I watched that happen so I just went to bed. And I dreamed that indeed he did blow it, but not in the way I anticipated. I had a dream in which I had Sportscenter on, and they were talking about the "amazing" game. And then there was a scan of the line score - it showed 2 runs in the Yankee half of the ninth, and then nothing but zeroes til like the 14th inning, when it showed a "5" and another "5" in one inning, and then a bunch more zeroes. I never did find out how it turned out in dream land, but I am glad it turned out right in reality!
  10. I don't know what is more distressing - the state of Horace's health or the state of that discussion board. Well, its his health that's more distressing but I can't do anything about that, so I sent an email to the webmaster addy on the site. I hope something is done to get that crap off of there.
  11. Thanks for posting your comments, Al, but I have to ask, WTF? How do you equate a piano trio (on an original titled "The Way Gene Would Groove It") to a "Doc Severinsen outfit"?
  12. Didn't Pearson's Blue Note trio LPs come out in the late 50s? So this wouldn't be "pre-BN" but "Blue Note interregnum", right?
  13. Zombies - 'Time of the Season' Kinda surprised this hadn't come up already.
  14. Wow. You shouldn't be a school teacher, dude. I mean, seriously. Not only are you not remotely qualified for the position, but you missed your true calling: Doing stand-up comedy. I just demonstrated the fundamental fallacy of your argument, and this is what you come back with? That's gold, Timmy. That's gold!
  15. Anyone else see the problem with Timmy's argument? Yet again I am simply astounded at what the CA schools hire and retain. The mind boggles.
  16. What a fucking joke you are. Its astounding. And of course, sad. But I've said that too many times before. NY is the media capitol of the world. Apparently though, you only get their reports when its all about the BARROID. When the BARROID takes it in his over-grown head, you bitch and moan about the NY MEDIA and how terrible they are. Now, when the same NY MEDIA takes the same can of whoop-ass to A-ROD, suddenly there are 49 other states, and none of them are paying any attention to this terrible cheating scandal by the future home run king. You know everything that the NY MEDIA is reporting when it comes to Bonds, yet if the reports are about other steroid cheats like A-Rod or Clemens, its a whole 'nother story with you. I may have three active brain cells, but you can't make a single cohesive argument with only one.
  17. Fine. You want to get nasty, Dan? OK. Let's go, big boy. YOU are a fucking blind idiot if you are expecting anyone to believe that A-Rod has gotten even HALF the unwarranted abuse Bonds got. He has gotten, what...an article or two? Give ME a fucking break, dipshit. There is absolutely NO comparison between what Bonds faced and what A-Rod didn't and at the hands of the obviously biased [and OWNED] New York media. NONE. Zip. Nada. BALCO my rosy red ass. A-Rod is a cheater...and after Bonds, you self-involved jerk-off. He also cheated on his wife. Where is all the media bullshit on that one, eh? The media got this hard-on over Bonds' lying sack of shit girlfriend he dumped. Why don't they go interview A-Rod's mistress, eh? Answer: He is a FUCKING New York Yankee in the FUCKING New York media market A-Rod got a free pass, moron. Plain and simple. At the end of the several times delayed pretend court case the government [now Bush-less, Black hater government; Katrina victims (largely Black) are still waiting for assistance. Gee, what a coincedence, huh.] will prove, once and for all, people like you are, just as ignorant, Bonds haters. Or, more to the point, bigots. You got nothing here and you know it, Dan. You are just a hater. Now, go soak your head, jackass. Every time you open your mouth Timmy, people on this thread laugh. And laugh. And laugh. Why do we know about A-Rod's cheating on his wife? BECAUSE THE NEW YORK TABLOIDS REPORTED IT! A-Rod has taken an extraordinary amount of abuse from the "NY MEDIA". He brought it on himself from the start. Let's talk about another steroid cheater that the "NY MEDIA" didn't give a pass to: Roger Clemens. Clemens has been torn a new one by the award-winning reporting of the NY Daily News. Steroid use. Multiple affairs. Possible statutory rape of a future country music star. And wait a minute - he's white, too, isn't he? So take your racial bias claims and cram them up your ever loving ass, you contemptible moronic fool.
  18. You just continue to be a pathetic joke. Number one, A-Rod has gotten a "pass"? Did you pay any attention at all to the coverage of his Gammons interview, and then the group press conference? Did you notice at all how just about every writer ripped him for saying things that were questionable at best, ridiculous at worst? But A-Rod "got a pass"? WHAT THE FUCKING HELL ARE YOU WATCHING? As for Bonds, by the end of his trial, everyone in the world will know that he was a hard core juicer. That fact will not be altered in the least if the government fails to prove, beyond and to the exclusion of all reasonable doubt, that he committed perjury when answering questions under oath in front of the BALCO grand jury. Artful lying may well keep him out of prison. It will never ever erase the stench of his holding the all-time home run record via steroid use. You can keep your head in the sand, you can even play all superior to everyone if Bonds gets acquitted. But you better understand one thing: Everyone with a brain knows that Barroid juiced.
  19. It goes from one f-ing embarrassment to another - Penny is pathetic, Lugo is a worthless POS if I've ever seen one, and then a 250 pound catcher gets his first SB of his entire life off of Varitek.
  20. This week is a repeater, and a tie. But now we have links to samples: If I Ever Had a Good Thing Now You Know Johnny Adams, ladies and gentlemen. Johnny Adams!!!!!
  21. Thanks Derek. Glad you did find tunes of interest. Should have gone with your instinct on Baby Face - only Soul Stream got that one and gave a little clue for everyone else.
  22. That's the thing, a lot of these tracks I don't think are easy to find in snippet form. On the other hand if a link could be created that includes the came-from-Organissimo tag so that the board gets a bit out of a sale, that would be better.
  23. I realize this is a long shot but I am wondering if it would be possible to add the ability to post a snippet - 30-45 seconds, a la Amazon song samples - of tunes that people post on this quite popular thread? I would think that as a short sample, there is no copyright/licensing issue, it would fall under "fair use" but I presume the problem would be either upping the upload limit to allow such a clip to be included in a post, or else Jim or Use would be uploading files to the Org server and then posting links, as Jim once did when I wanted to share the Four Sounds acetate demo recording. I know it would definitely be helpful to be able to hear some of these "Best Tracks" though.
  24. Would it be too much trouble to pull that up and post your comments? I honestly feel quite deprived of so much of the fun of putting these together. Bad timing, too many people with too much other stuff going on, I know how life can be - but I put together an interesting BFT with a decent level of expected participation, and I barely got anything out of it in terms of feedback and reaction. I said it was my last, and it most assuredly is - I have no urge to put together another one.
