  1. Does your 12 year old know how to burn CDs? I'd bet she can explain it easier than a PM would.
  2. I'm frankly a little surprised that you two came to such a unilateral decision together and then declared that final decision. Of course there is no question that interest in BFTs has waned substantially, and no one is scheduled beyond December of this year - but maybe before pulling the plug we should give people a chance to express an opinion about it, maybe give a final chance for compilers to sign up? I harbor no illusions its going to last much longer, I just think it goes against the M.O. of the board to have a decision be taken by the two people who have been the "Keepers of the Links" rather than broaching the subject publicly and reaching a conclusion collaboratively.
  3. thanks. Looks like they have much higher minimums (100) but the prices aren't any better. Think I'll stick with a smaller quantity since its fair to expect that some of these LPs won't sell anyway and I won't even need 50 in the end.
  4. :blush2: only not at Fenway - until 4 pm tomorrow that is. Now Penny better be ready, because they'll need a fifth starter in Anaheim this weekend. No more tune ups for him, its go time.
  5. Given that the Andorrans have put out both of these fine LPs as if they had the right to do so thirty years after the recording, I think we should follow Jim's advice - freely distribute that which is bootleged. (I know, we're not supposed to discuss this and I'm not saying we will, but its wrong for a mid-seventies Xanadu recording to be reissued as they've done. And yet, its such great music, worthy of much wider distribution.) And that's another one I was certain you actually had, Jim! At least you knew it, unlike that B.B. King track.
  6. I never would have guessed that you not only don't have it but were unaware it even exists. Sorry but I am just not sure what this means - other than a general dis of the players/performance. I'd like to hold you to this but I am afraid the Ambien might be clouding your judgment.
  7. I could care less about a few games lost to snow, or showery April weather messing with the schedule. I'm not sitting in the stands having paid to witness those games - I'm sitting on the couch watching BASEBALL and I wouldn't sacrifice a single game of the season in order to get started when the weather is perfect. The weather is good enough - PLAY BALL!
  8. Interesting comments. I think I was only kidding about "explaining" your Gene/not Gene answers but thanks for playing along! You may be surprised by some of the answers. Glad your inaugural BFT was fun. Its obvious you've got a better than average ear for recognizing people - even if you weren't exactly perfect on this one.
  9. I do believe that the Dodgers are going to miss Derek Lowe and the Braves will be glad they have him. Not sure about that by the time his contract runs out, but right now, this year - the Braves will be better for getting that done. And the Dodgers will be worse for letting him walk. Of course, in 2005, the Mets looked like geniuses for getting Pedro, and some questioned whether the Red Sox should have let him go, and by the end of Pedro's contract, it was just another feather in Theo's cap that he set his price/years on Pedro and then walked away.
  10. I saw that at the end of the broadcast and thought that those other guys must be tiny. I just checked and I remembered correctly - Winfield is 6'6". I figured the other guys were tiny but Winfield looked like Andre The Giant next to them. And Kruk is 5'10" so he is a bit shorter than I thought, too.
  11. And again. And AGAIN. Conrad's gotta be happy, and our Philly friends must be pissed. Not the way Myers was supposed to start the season (although he wasn't supposed to start the season anyway).
  12. A great relief to finally get things going - I have such great hopes for the Red Sox pitching staff, I can't wait to see if they live up to the promise - but right now I have a bad feeling that the weather is going to screw up the Red Sox-Rays and the Yankee opener too. Nothing like having to wait an extra day ... But everyone should know that Extra Innings is doing their free preview week, Monday through Sunday, so if you're local team isn't on, you can still catch them. Should mean that if Monday's opener is postponed to Tuesday, I should catch the NESN broadcast. And there goes the first homer at the launching pad that is Citizen's Bank park. That park is so small, they get out of there in a hurry.
  13. Thanks but the ones I found take up to four LPs and are significantly cheaper - .77 each vs $1.04 for Cameron when shipping is included.
  14. I am planning on posting about 40 LPs on eBay soon but realized I ought to have the necessary mailers on hand. I found Indy Discount Mailers selling bundles of 50 12.5"X12.5"X1" LP boxes for $22 plus UPS shipping of $16 for a per unit cost of .77. Does anyone know of a cheaper source or is this about the best that it gets? Anyone know this company (their record supply website is fingerpop.com)? As always, thanks in advance!
  15. Well I am now getting email notification, seven days late. And its not like the software is catching up in "real time" - I got three notifications for three messages received over three days, all within the last three hours.
  16. According to AMG, Buddy DeFranco recorded it in 1954, Harry James recorded it in 1950; Teddy Wilson in 1944.
  17. This was up on Dime not too long ago after someone did their best to improve the fidelity. I didn't download though since I'd already done what I could and it really doesn't help to put lipstick on a pig, but some people seemed pleased with the results.
  18. You sadistic bastard. I'm sorry, I meant to say that you get extra credit if you explain your answers.
  19. Thanks for your comments, 6 and the erstwhile 9 may surprise you. I've never thought the last track would be compared to early 70s Elvin as it strikes me as more of a late-50s vibe. Of course you are right about Dex/Cohn, its such a great track I had to include it even though almost everyone should at least get Dexter. I hate to point it out but the Andorrans are selling both Silver Blue and the other Xanadu Dexter cut, True Blue. Fine recordings that deserve to be heard, but how the fuck do they justify issuing them when they are barely over 30 years old?
  20. You never expressed an interest in my BFT, Thom but I'm glad you got your hands on the download, some of your IDs are right on target. Does Rickey Woodard do anything for you on the Tenor Trio disc or elsewhere?
  21. I've posted the discussion threads. If anyone is still interested, PM me for download links and if anyone expected download links but didn't get them or had a problem with them, please let me know.
  22. This would be the disc that starts with the mini-set of Gene Harris and faux Gene Harris tracks. I call it "Is it Gene or is it Memorex?" but I do ask that you explain your answers.
  23. I know some of these tracks aren't "jazz" - please be gentle and if you didn't know some of them, I think you'll be pleased when at least a couple of the participants ID most if not all of them.
  24. I think there are two ways to look at that schedule quirk (if its true, I hadn't realized before), and one works against the Sox. I expect the Red Sox to be better by mid-season, with Smoltz in the rotation and (hopefully) Daniel Bard added to the pen. So playing most of the Yankees - Rays schedule before then could put them in the hole. On the other hand, playing the lesser teams of the league with their best roster could be a help. Actually the part of the schedule I like best is that somehow the Sox are finished with trips to the West Coast in May, while the Yankee trips are mid August and mid-September. That's a big advantage, with the Yanks having to go cross-country in the dog days, and then during the pennant push. In the end though its 162 games, may the best team(s) play in October.
