I'll believe that report when MLB makes an announcement. It makes a lot more sense to implement and test things in the Arizona Fall League before making it official and using it in games. Meanwhile, young Mr. Masterson continues to impress. He gave up a leadoff homer to that Bruce kid but since then has sent down AW FUCK - Homer by Dunn, and a double after that. Jesus Christ. Well I was going to say that seven of the first nine outs were by strikeout. But now he's given the lead back, and there's a runner at second with one out. FUCK IT - another double. 3-1. Might be hard to keep up with the Reds offense. Where the fuck is the rain????

Thanks for demonstrating, over and over, how much of an asshole you can be. Well done!

Thanks but I don't really see how this is significantly different from the story that has been told in the past, or what misinformation it corrects. And speaking of corrections - I hope the typos were due to a transcription of an interview by a non-native speaker and not his own written account. "scene" not "sceen" "misinformation" is one word "must have" not "must of" "disillusioned" not "dissalusioned" and his wedding could not have been "later in 1969" if Lee was killed in 1973. Maybe it was '79?

'cept its "alliteration".

Very nice way to wrap up the homestand tonight with a 9-2 win over the O's. Lester was strong except for one inning and went seven allowing two runs on seven hits, and only one walk. It really looks like he has figured it out - he doesn't walk the park lately and his stuff gets guys out most of the time. You have to go back to April 23 for the last time he gave up 4 earned runs in a game, and he hasn't walked four in a game since April 29. Nice! Even nicer today was Lowell following up an intentional pass to Manny with a grand slam to bust the game open. Add in Youk's tenth homer and the red-hot JD Drew's tenth and suddenly the team has five guys on the roster with 10+ homers on the season. And Drew is just completely ridiculous, he's hitting over .500 since Papi went on the DL, and now he is just one homer behind last year's total, and his OPS is now at .992. Now, if we can just win some games on the road, with a trip to Cincinnati and Philly up next. At least the lead is 2 1/2 going in to interleague play, it will be real nice if we can somehow extend that by the time interleague is over and hopefully Papi will be back. At least the Marlins are playing better and the Rays have to take on the Cubbies, too (along with Houston and Pittsburgh). Then it is a return to Tampa for a showdown between the Fightin' Rays and the Wrasslin' Red Sox. And Papelbon isn't being too smart about it, either.

That depends: is Scott Boras his agent? If so, then Hicks will pay him gazillions of dollars. Yeah, but if he stays sober, it could be worth it.

Song lyrics that make you want to scream
Dan Gould replied to Jazzmoose's topic in Miscellaneous Music
He's clearly talking about the Christmas season which begins on December 25th and ends on January 6th (the feast of the Epiphany, also known as Old Christmas). Duh! Even allowing for this possibility it still doesn't work for half of it. And who's still listening to Christmas songs on January 6th? I stand by my original assertion that it's a crock. Well count me as one who agrees with Alex. You don't have a sense at Christmas that another year is over and a new is about to begin? Do you only think about Christmas up until the 25th, then starting the day after you think about New Year's? Yeah, "just begun" doesn't work on Christmas Day but maybe "and a new one about to begin" doesn't fit either. -
As Larry says, the whole point is indirect contact. Not only does it free people up to be open about their desires, it allows them some level of satisfaction without the potential health risks that direct contact could incur. One thing that happened when I worked for that company that I didn't mention: when I was taking the incoming calls, we had some technical difficulties and the whole system was down. All of a sudden, my[/] phone rings, and its a girl trying to get matched up to little old me. I quickly figured out that this was coming from the phone sex room, I had apparently made an impression on one of the frightfully repellent swamp sows that took those calls. So I start to have some fun, I ask her what she looks like - and she goes off about her hemmorhoids. Really charming. Actually, come to think of it, when I took an incoming call from a woman, they'd often ask if they could talk to me. I'd have to give them the malarkey about me just taking these calls, all the while thinking that I should just tell her she'll end up talking to me anyway. Oh, and I'll never forget our resident pre-op transsexual. She thought she was the female version of Fabio, so she went by Fabia.

organissimo heads into the "studio"
Dan Gould replied to Jim Alfredson's topic in organissimo - The Band Discussion
Jim, if you didn't pay the hosting company in advance, I'm sure no one here would object to a re-direct of the remaining cash from last year's fund raising effort toward the CD expenses. Then we can plan on an October fund raiser to cover next year. -
This doesn't look good: Kazmir has taken 34 pitches to get through 3 innings in Anaheim, without allowing a baserunner. At that rate, he can easily throw a complete game, and it used to be that you could steal a Kazmir start by wearing him down and getting to the bullpen while the game is close. Colon better be ready to go tonight, or the Rays will take over first place a day later than I said they would.

I thought there was a Chess recording that wasn't issued at the time, along with a couple of Vee Jay 45s that I have or have received burns of ... or now that I think about it, didn't Chess end up owning the Argo/Cadet catalog? Because I notice that "Dad's Theme" was on his Mo' Rock album and "Behind the 8 Ball" was the title track of the other album. So I'm guessing they took two tunes from different albums and put them out as a single.

JESUS MOTHERFUCKING CHRIST they fucking deserve to fall out of first place. 6-4, at home, seventh inning and Okajima pisses it away with yet another fucking disastrous appearance. Its like night and day with him from last year to now. Last year, there were absolutely no worries at all. Now all I ever see is his crappy velocity and shitty location and walk after walk followed by balls getting hit all over the fucking yard. Then of course a one run deficit gets blown up into four in the top of the ninth, a surefire double play ball muffed by Pedroia and then a late, offline throw on a forceout at the plate that would have kept the score where it was. THIS ONE FUCKING MAKES ME NAUSEOUS. So go ahead, Rays, and fucking take what you deserve.

Well, you could always drum up some talk about NL clubs! Clearly, you only watch the cubs pitchers hit, cuz everywhere I look I see a bunch of girlymen who swing like its the first time they have ever seen a baseball, and most of them can't even bunt worth a damn! Yeah, but take a look at this: Teams with 300 runs scored or more: AL: Texas, 361 Red Sox, 334 White Sox, 302 NL: Cubs, 352 Phillies, 344 Pirates, 309 Arizona, 306 St Louis, 303 So despite the pitcher batting and no DH, there are a bunch more high-scoring offenses in the NL than in the AL. WTF?
-
I don't root against the A's unless they are playing the Sox - or the Cubs if that is going to happen this year. So, Go A's! And even with the possibility of the Wild Card going to the Rays, A's or Yankees, I think that Paps will agree that anytime you can put the Yankees further into a hole is a good time. If they come back, the Rays will deal with them later.

Well ... duh!

BTW, if you try to order through Da Bastids "John Patton" is the search term to use. "Big John Patton" will bring up a different set of recordings, but not this one.
-
Nope, its Justin Time. $12.99 is definitely a nice price.

Blue Note's website shows them: BN's Three Sounds page Wow. If AMG's opinion is to be believed, neither one of these are top-shelf albums. Not even middle-shelf. I'd rather credit anything Dan says about these than AMG. So, what of them, Dan? MG Soul Symphony ranks above Elegant Soul, by a significant margin, IMO. The latter suffers for song choices, like "Harper Valley P.T.A." among others, while the title track of the former stretches across one side of the LP and actually holds interest. Monk Higgins originally wrote the tune as his Master's Thesis (or something like that) and then made changes to make it a vehicle for Gene Harris' soulful piano. Its supposed to reflect "the Negro experience in America" and its definitely worth hearing if you are a fan of Harris. The rest of the album has several shorter, radio-ready throwaway ditties like "Popsicle Pimp". I will definitely be interested to hear people's impressions of Soul Symphony, as I've come close in the past to using the title track on a BFT - but how can you use up 24 minutes of space on one tune?
-
Probably not.

Is there any confirmation about this batch? I have to admit I'd be very surprised to see two Three Sounds reissues after the things MC has said about their reissue sales. But I'd be all over them if there are unissued tracks.
