What I am enjoying for the moment is the fact that they were 5 1/2 out when Roger the Merc made his announcement, and now they are 10 1/2 back. I said back then that I hoped they'd be able to put them on life support by the time he returns, and with the Yanks facing the Halos and the Sox at Texas this weekend, I think we've got a good shot to put them 12-13 back by the time the Yanks face Toronto and the Sox get the Tribe.

I believe Groove Hut is yet another label from the Andorran pirates. If I wanted a CD out of it I'd make a transfer from the vinyl, not send money to thieves. FWIW, Signifyin' had a Japanese reissue not too long ago. For some reason I think I picked up a dirt cheap copy when that outfit in PA (Red Trumpet? What was the name of that place?) had a big sale.

This I can't quite understand. A classic on all levels, imo. I remember reading that the man who inspired the episode was franchising his soup shop, but I'm not sure where they might be available or the name of the company. But the Times piece certainly made him sound like a true "Soup Nazi".

I am the type of reader whose eyes glaze over at extensive musical notation/analysis, but getting the truth about Bud's life and career should make this one a keeper, especially if the author is such a talented writer, too. Who knows, a book without the musical analysis might sell a little more and maybe that will encourage publishers to put out more of this type of jazz biography.

This year: just under 15 innings pitched, 3 home runs. Last year, 79 innings pitched and three home runs. The year before, two home runs. This is not the Mo that Yankee fans loved and opposing teams feared. This is some impostor.
