  1. I definitely didn't get that memo. Have no idea why it was regarded as if it were a state secret.
  2. A lot of KD fans here. I'm sure a lot of people will make suggestions. For some reason, I think that Quiet Kenny was one of the very earliest CDs I bought. Instant classic for me, but one I haven't listened to in a while. I'm going to put that on, and also suggest Whistle Stop.

    Suzanne Vega

    Allright! Next up, Edie Brickell!!
  4. I knew MC was really important, but I had no idea that Mosaic has its own law. Now that's a smart-ass answer. Or a dumb-ass answer. Either way, I knew "ass" was part of it.

  6. 1986 Hi I am new to the board, just wanting to see if someone might be able to provide some info...In the liner notes to Live at the Lighthouse, Bob Belden mentions a session with Houston Person that does not appear in any Grant discographies...if this session is all that BB says it is then it must be a very special and important recording.. especially in light of when it was made...does anyone have any knowledge of this I don't know what exactly is referred to in those liner notes, but there was a Houston Person double LP on the Eastbound label, The Real Thing which includes Grant among its many all-star guests.
  7. There was a Griff 'n Lock?
  8. It does seem reasonable but I have a problem with these two sentences: Its one thing to say that back-up copies may remain on the servers, but why should MySpace.com retain the rights? Does this mean the rights delineated above are retained? Then what is the point in saying that the license will terminate when the content is removed? Hmm, yeah, that is a bit more worrisome. I think it largely is there for the same reason. if some back-up exists somewhere, they don't want you suing them after you've removed it from their site. that seems straightforward. I'm sure My Space like other sites does regular back-ups of everything, and those back-ups might include information that has since been deleted. Who knows where those back-ups live? But I am sure My Space is doing it to cover their asses. I still don't see how it allows them to start selling or licensing your music or images to other people. Agreed ... but I think that the agreement should state something like "My Space may retain copies of deleted Content on back-up copies which it maintains, but the license and rights delineated above shall only apply to Content which is currently uploaded by the user." Otherwise, there does seem to be a potential loophole in their retention of backup copies. Kind of also brings up the question of what happens if something crashes and an earlier back-up is used? My Space might re-establish a license to material that a user had already removed.

  10. Really? So how much public taxpayer's money goes into those stadiums anyway? Regardless of how much money may be put into a stadium, it doesn't make a baseball team a "quasi-public resource". Its a private business, run by its owners in the way they see fit. Doesn't matter a whit that they con a state or local government authority into building them a stadium. Or were you under the impression that Chrysler became a "quasi-public resource" when it was bailed out? Or does any other corporation receiving "corporate welfare" become a "quasi-public resource"????
  11. Why this means you should boycott baseball as opposed to rooting against the Rockies is beyond me. Or do you find "Faith Days" at the park that offensive? BTW, a baseball team isn't a "quasi-public resource". Its a private organization that can make decisions based on whatever criteria they choose. And the local population can decide to support them or not.
  12. I was lucky to snag a copy of That's The Way It Is when it was issued domestically, way back when. Don't think that the second LP has seen CD release; I found it Mint for something like $15. Can't remember if it was ebay or at a store but I haven't seen any other copy since. Excellent music, that's for sure.
  13. No doubt it was a thank you more than anything. But they didn't have to do it - good for him that they did. What are your thoughts about Wang at this point? I am still not sure what you have in him and almost think that if a trade could be worked out for an established starter like Dontrelle Willis (or someone who isn't in his walk year) you should let him go. When the sinker is on and he doesn't have trouble with the strike zone, he's an excellent pitcher ... but if the sinker isn't working, or he puts people on base - the guy can't seem to pitch out of the stretch, and he gets pounded. I also wonder about the long-term success of a guy who hardly strikes anyone out. Should be a good series - I wouldn't be surprised if Jeter misses Monday's game but the news doesn't sound nearly as bad as the ball did when it hit him.
  14. Interesting report out of Boston says that, if Houston is out of the race by the trade deadline, the Red Sox would be the most likely destination, given that it came down to Boston or Houston before. The Globe reports that this has already been discussed with Clemens and with Houston. So the dream lives! Meanwhile, a question for you Yankee fans: Has Cinderella finally turned back into a pumpkin? Small can't get out of the third inning today, charged with seven runs, all earned, and his ERA climbs perilously close to double digits. You just had to know that a guy who didn't even qualify for the term "journeyman" (how can he when he barely ever stuck with any team for an entire season?) before his stunning performance last year would revert to his previous level. I will say this: I thought the Yanks were exceptionally good to him to give him a one year, 1.5 milllion dollar contract. They surely did not have to do that and it gives a guy who was at his very best a marginal big league player a nice payday to finish up with. I'm sure he and his family could use it. Steinbrenner's money being used for good! Who'd a thunk it?
  15. huh. I've never understood why people have a problem with this. I simply listen to the music. No problem. You seriously don't find that it gets in the way of enjoying the music?
  16. Being involved with the issue of Aviation safety in the company I work for (we teach Aviation English), I found the article quite interesting. Thanks.
  17. "I want his dog - dead!" As far as the evidence, plenty of people try to arrange murders on an installment plan. The fact that they made the offer to a Sheriff's Deputy is more than enough for me.
  18. Maybe its time for Jim to do that upgrade. This is the second thread I've seen today where the initial post can't be seen.
  19. I'll bet its because of it being a part of "zoomshare" where I bet they allow adult material.
  20. The Brian Lynch CDs, The first Hazeltine Classic Trio, One For All (IMHO) I'd add the Jim Rotondi releases, Killer Ray Appleton, and if you like male vocals, Giacomo Gates.
  21. Seems to me the same thing can be said, that certain non-Americans simply cannot stand that an American has dominated a European sport, and no matter what is shown, he will always be guilty. Of being an American dominating a European sport.
  22. Best I could do with the scanner:
  23. Let me see what I can do, scanning wise.
  24. I'd agree. You can make up a very good collection with Mosaic but there would be huge gaps in it too. With limited resources, I'd concentrate on buiding a collection based on what you like most and what is currently in print.
