  1. Didn't know that - no worries on being scolded at all. Unless the CD I pulled this from is wrong, neither is the name of this tune...
  2. @BillF guessed that as well. I'm guessing Hope used those changes to build this tune... Yeah, this cumbia track is the real deal. I thought the same as you when it came to Merengue...until I went to the Dominican. Wow. I'm definitely not to the point of being able to recognize different label's sounds, especially from this track's era. I *don't* think this is a Horo record. At least all listings online suggest it isn't. But definitely no bass player with those 2.
  3. Strike on #s 2 & 14 but 100% correct on #s 5, 6 & 7. And holy sheet - nice work on getting Cumbia style for #10 and I knew someone would get #12! Correct on all - Jacquet, Parker & JJ. #13 is McPherson, but I'm not sure if it's a bolero tune or not... Probably should trust your gut on 15...
  4. Sorry - not a hint. Just me trying to vary my responses. Not Russian or Eastern Bloc.
  5. The new season of Top Chef. I love this series and this season may be the best they've ever done.
  6. Nice description. I'll have to pay close attention the next time I'm playing some Roach. He recently blew me away on that Slide Hampton Drum Suite album...
  7. Dee-Woop-Bop huh? ok...
  8. Awesome. Never knew there was much of a W-S scene or sound, but will have to check this out. Gotta dig that cover art lol. H&O fan here. Saw them live on some reunion tour way back in the early, early aughts (maybe even the late 90s?), and then saw John Oates do a solo acoustic set at Merle Fest a few years ago - had to be 2017 or so because of the protest song he had just written and I think performed for the first time. That was not a super safe bet either b/c the crowd at MF is pretty mixed and likely leans a bit right. Very talented dude. His set was on the side stage and it was during a torrential downpour which added to the ambiance. Anyway, now playing for the first time in a while:
  9. Some great songs here. I have that Nat Adderley CD but it's a recent purchase and I've only listened to it a couple of times. Love it though. Thanks for the BFT!
  10. Earlier this morning: This type of choreography was an impressive art form (not a fan of that CGI angel however). There's a video of the Delfonics doing something similar...here it is:
  11. This one's on the list to buy. Haven't gotten one of the Reel to Reel releases yet, but have been meaning to with the Adderley & the Davis/Griffin sets. Glad they're putting this on both CD and download options.
  12. Slide Hampton had one. The Jazz Piano and Wein in Mexico discs had a bunch.
  13. Here 'tis: http://thomkeith.net/index.php/blindfold-tests/ Yall have been doing this for years and this is my first one. Fingers crossed that there's no repeats. I'm a pretty new jazz fan so I'm not expecting to stump anyone, but hoping that there's plenty to enjoy. Regardless, looking forward to the commentary.
  14. VIllage Vanguard recording from '74 with Gomez & Morell
  15. Most of it is the kind of music my dad has in his collection. Hawkins played on some Johnnie Taylor albums but I don't have those, although I've got others by Taylor.
  16. Scrolling discogs and I don't have any album that he's ever played on, but am familiar with many of the artists and some songs.
  17. Disc 6. This set just keeps getting better and better.
  18. Love it. On this CD they have the original and the alt take. A combined 17+ minutes of that track and it kills.
  19. Looks like it. They did Ballads and A Love Supreme already. They should do a double deluxe edition of Ascension, but I bet that doesn't happen.
  20. And a great live recording. The Miles Amsterdam is nowhere near that kind of SQ but the music shines through regardless.
