I guess it's official now. Whatever the teams are doing all season long, it is not involvement in a pennant race. That's history. I recall mentioning last year that when the teams won the league championship series, the word "pennant" was not used until near the end of the news reports. This year, I noticed that the AP reports printed in our Raleigh paper for both the Mets and the Royals clinching failed to use the word "pennant."
