  1. Congratulations to the city of Oakland which enjoys a championship the last year it has the team! I had no idea that the Warriors hadn't won the title since 1975 (40 years). And I note that in the OP I said that I had no idea that the Warriors were good, so there you go!
  2. The Criterion 3-DVD box of Seven Samurai is $24.49. The Blu-ray is a dollar more. http://www.amazon.com/Seven-Samurai-The-Criterion-Collection/dp/B000G8NXYG?SubscriptionId=AKIAJ7T5BOVUVRD2EFYQ&tag=camelproducts-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=2025&creative=165953&creativeASIN=B000G8NXYG

  5. I note that its release date is Sept. 18. That's a Friday; so that means that the plan to establish Friday as the global release day will be in effect by then.

  7. Scott, I won't bet the ranch that he was called The Great Wahoo. I don't remember him as a wrestler. I only remember all the talk about him during the football broadcasts. I was an AFL fan. Now I see on Wikipedia that there was an ABA/NBA player I vaguely recall named Jim McDaniels. It's likely that that's where I'm getting the name Jim from.
  8. Dave, Wikipedia says that McDaniel's first name was Ed. But I have a strong recollection that it was Jim. Maybe I had a Denver bubble gum card that said "Jim." Do you recall him as Ed McDaniel?
  9. Thanks Lon! I think my problem was that I spelled Erroll with only one "l."
  10. Dave, can you please provide a link? It's not coming up for me.
  11. I've been sick in bed for the past three days, so let's catch up. Michael Sam left the Als' camp unexpectedly but with permission Friday, the day before the Als' first exhibition game. The Als have suspended him. http://www.tsn.ca/popp-sam-s-football-career-on-the-line-1.308385 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3123307/Michael-Sam-leaves-Montreal-Alouettes-training-camp-personal-reasons.html ***** Calgary 20....BC 6 http://cfl.ca/article/fourth-quarter-major-lifts-stamps-over-lions http://www.tsn.ca/stamps-get-past-lions-in-pre-season-game-1.307218 ***** The Argos have signed Adrian McPherson. He spent last year playing arena ball. http://cfl.ca/article/argos-sign-former-als-qb-adrian-mcpherson http://www.tsn.ca/former-als-qb-mcpherson-signs-with-argos-1.307365 ***** Montreal 26....Ottawa 9 http://cfl.ca/article/second-half-surge-pushes-als-over-redblacks http://www.tsn.ca/als-start-pre-season-with-rout-of-redblacks-1.307794 ***** Edmonton 31....Saskatchewan 24 http://cfl.ca/article/esks-complete-the-comeback-in-pre-season-opener http://www.tsn.ca/eskimos-rally-past-riders-in-pre-season-1.307901 ***** Each team announced its first round of cuts yesterday. Obviously, what I reported last week about there being only one round of cuts was incorrect. Those looking for work now include Alex Suber, Jabari Arthur and Tino Sunseri. I'm surprised to see that the Ticats suspended CJ Gable. As mentioned June 6, Gable hurt his hand and will be out for a month. http://cfl.ca/article/first-cuts-tracking-roster-moves-around-the-cfl http://www.tsn.ca/cfl-clubs-pare-down-training-camp-rosters-1.308063
  12. The popularity of the album when it was new makes this more interesting to me than the music itself.
  13. I had Ernie Ladd's 1962 Fleer bubble gum card when he played for the Chargers. Ladd played in the AFL. I had Leo Nomenilli's card in 1959 when he was with the 49ers. It said on the back that he wrestled in the off-season. I remember well Wahoo McDaniel playing for Denver and New York Jets in the AFL in the '60s. He was called Wahoo because he wrestled in the off-season as the Indian chief The Great Wahoo. I recall reading many years later that he said that the most he made playing football in a year was $45,000; and the most he made wrestling in a year was $600,000.
  14. Before he became a pro wrestler, Lex Luger was an offensive lineman named Larry Pfohl. I saw him play for the Montreal Alouettes in the 1979 Grey Cup.

  17. You do realize pro wrestling is fake, right? The "elbow thing"was just a "signature move" that the promoters came up with. And the "Nature Boy" isn't heartbroken, he's dead. Scott (and I'm embarrassed to admit that I know anything about pro wrestling!), not only is the Nature Boy not dead, but he made a splash on TV just a few minutes ago on the broadcast of the Warriors/Cavaliers game! http://ftw.usatoday.com/2015/06/ric-flair-bursts-into-nba-tv-game-4-broadcast-woo

Backup QBs Robert Marve and Trevor Harris both looked good.

The announcer said that the teams think it is less expensive to keep everyone on the roster for the entire pre-season period than it is to fly people in and out. ***** Reebok's contract with the league will not be renewed at the end of this season. I'll be interested to see what sort of interest there will be in the league. http://3downnation.com/2015/06/08/11994/#comments
