Happy Birthday, Felser!

Happy Birthday 2011 John! -
The Grey Cup is on cable tv channel TSN (the Canadian equivalent of ESPN), yet over one-third of the Canadian population tuned in to the game last night, making it Canada's most watched sporting event of the year. The Canadian press always ballyhoos hockey over the Canadian league, yet the Grey Cup always gets a bigger tv rating than the Stanley Cup Finals (and the Super Bowl for that matter). http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=381490

2011 Grey Cup British Columbia Lions 34....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 23 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/scores/final/boxscore.aspx?GAMEID=999 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4454100 Dan Ralph http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/lions-win-grey-cup/article2251487/ http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=381436 http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Football/CFL/GreyCup/2011/11/27/19026066.html ***** Montreal's offensive coordinator Scott Milanovich is said to have agreed to become the new Argos head coach, though the deal is not yet done. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=381450 ***** The Grey Cup in a nut shell: The Lions had the chance to bury the Bombers in the first quarter, but couldn't get it done. By the end of the half, the Bombers had the momentum. The third quarter was even until on the last play the Lions scored a touchdown on a 66 yard bomb. That seemed to salt it away for the Lions, but the Bombers came back in the fourth quarter with two touchdowns. After the second TD, however, the Bombers kickoff did not go the required ten yards. The Lions took the ball and kicked a field goal which gave them an insurmountable eleven-point lead with just 58 seconds to play.

CONTEST: 2011 Grey Cup game

At the half, it's BC 14....Winnipeg 6 The defenses ruled the second quarter. BC's offense did everything but pile on the points in the first quarter, but the Bombers' defense shut them down in the second quarter. Winnipeg's offense showed nothing until midway through the second. And in the second, their defense really got it together. The halftime band is Nickleback which is from British Columbia (I think Victoria). I learned this week that these two defenses were the two best in the league this season. PS - I'm sure that I read that Nickleback is from BC, but the announcer just said that they are from Alberta. -

After one, it's BC 11....Winnipeg 0. It's been all BC, so I suppose the Bombers are lucky to be down by only eleven. -

TSN Grey Cup picks http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=381416 (I consider Dave Naylor to be the most knowledgeable of all CFL reporters, and he's picking the Bombers in an upset!) The Lions are seven point favorites.

Now the wags are saying that Kapp and Mosca will stage a rematch in Las Vegas billed as The Geezers at Caesar's!!! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/angelo-mosca-brushes-off-joe-kapp-peace-offering/article2250724/
-
Here's a more detailed account of the Kapp-Mosca encounter. I swear, this is going to be remembered more than the ballgame! http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/cfl-legends-mosca-kapp-fight-at-grey-cup-luncheon/article2250962/

LOL!!! You've got to read this. Joe Kapp and Angelo Mosca got into it last night. Both are 73 years old. I had Mosca's bubble gum card in 1959, and Kapp's in 1964. At a minimum, Kapp threw a punch, and Mosca proactively waved his cane! http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=381308 PS - McMaster beat Laval last night for the Vanier Cup, 41-38 in double OT. The game was played in Vancouver. They are trying something different, and staging the game along with the Grey Cup because the Grey Cup is where all the media are. Next year both games will be in Toronto. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=381340

Correct, Paul! It's Kenneth Millar, aka Ross MacDonald. Is that Burt Ward, the actor who played Robin to Adam West's Batman?
-
Paul, it looks like we need another hint! In the meantime...
-
Happy Birthday 2011 Elissa!
-
Correct, Jim! It's Billy Eckstine.
