  1. Dave Naylor Week 14 wrapup http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=377360
  2. I had a feeling this one might be impossible. Think '80s TV.
  3. I expect I'm going to need to give a hint for this one.
  4. The Lions' overcoming 20 point deficits to win two weeks in a row has never been done before in the NFL. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/detroit-lions-make-nfl-history-with-rallies/article2189791/
  5. Riding a six game winning streak, the Lions have vaulted to the top of TSN's power rankings for the week. [1] B.C.: Moved up two spots after winning their sixth consecutive game[2] Montreal: Hang on to beat Bombers and hang onto No. 2 rank[3] Winnipeg: Hard-fought loss to Als costs them two spots[4] Calgary: Win ends two-game losing skid; move two spots up[5] Hamilton: Won second straight; within two of top spot in East[6] Edmonton: Slide two spots following second straight defeat[7] Saskatchewan: Two straight embarrassing performances[8] Toronto:Sixth straight loss to Ticats; playoff hopes hanging http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=377323 ***** In the last minute of the game, the Bombers were awarded the ball on the Als' one due to a bad call of pass interference. Today the league fired the ref who made the call. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=377334
  6. I like this album. It's all over the board. There's some greasy funk, some gospel with vocals, some hard core blues. Most but not all of it would be appreciated by someone still somewhat new to jazz. Gerard Gibbs on organ does an outstanding job, though this is clearly James Carter's album.
  7. Unbeknownst to me, the Riders signed Jamie Boreham last month, and today they traded him to the Bombers for future considerations. http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/story/?id=377312
  8. Happy Birthday 2011 Ken!
  9. Adolph Sax!
  10. Correct, Jim!
  11. I think Jim has forgotten to give us a hint. Here's one.
  12. Montreal Alouettes 32....Winnipeg Blue Bombers 26 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4440464 The Als dominated, but the Bombers came back in the late going. The game ended with the Als stopping Alex Brink twice from the one. ***** British Columbia Lions 33....Edmonton Eskimos 24 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4440471 The Eskimos dominated the first half, but didn't put up much on the scoreboard to show for it. As so often happens, the team that escaped the first half came back to win the game. ***** Calgary Stampeders 40....Saskatchewan Roughriders 3 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4440638 With two minutes to go in the half, the Stamps led 9-3. They scored two quick touchdowns before the break and never looked back. ***** Hamilton Tiger-Cats 27....Toronto Argonauts 12 http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4440677 This loss came very close to mathematically eliminating the Argos from the playoffs.
  13. Happy Birthday 2011 Rod!
  14. Geelong wins the championship 119 to 81! Geelong Cats 18.11.119....Collingwood Magpies 12.9.81 Collingwood ran out of gas. They failed to score a goal in the fourth quarter. This is Geelong's third championship ("premiership") in the past five years.
  15. What a game! After three quarters it's Geelong 85....Collingwood 78 (13.7.85 12.6.78) Midway through the third quarter, the announcer mentioned that there had already been ten lead changes in the game. It looks like the big rain storm that was predicted isn't going to happen. The rain started, but it wasn't as bad as they had feared.
  16. At halftime it's Collingwood 57....Geelong 54. (9.3.57 8.6.54) At one point in the second quarter Collingwood led by 18, but Geelong finished the half very strong.
  17. After one quarter, it's Geelong 27....Colingwood 26. Great first quarter! Both teams scored four goals.
  18. Happy Birthday 2011 Edward!
  19. Bumping the thread to remind that tonight's the night! This morning's USA Today says that the game will be on ESPN2 starting at midnight eastern.
  20. Umar Ali Week 14 preview http://64.246.64.33/merge/tsnform.aspx?c=sportsnetwork&page=cfl/news/news.aspx?id=4440380
  21. I remember learning of his death the following morning reading USA Today. This came as a surprise to me because as I recall it was about a month after his stroke. My understanding of strokes was and is that you either die promptly or linger for many months.
  22. The offer to Bryant now involves "$2.5 million for 10 games over 40 days from Oct. 9 to Nov. 16. That would come out to about $1.5 million after taxes." That's a lot less than $700,000 per game. Of course, Bryant would be free to leave and rejoin the Lakers when the lockout ends. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/basketball/bryant-says-move-to-italian-club-very-possible-during-lockout/article2183300/
  23. Correct brownie! That photo was taken at Montreux in 1970. I saw him a few months prior to that at the Cellar Door.
  24. Globe Week 14 picks http://www.theglobeandmail.com/sports/football/week-14/article2185872/
