Dave Allen told this story: I was at a dinner party in a hotel dining room and I told a short joke about how the Pope took away the steps to all of the urinals to keep the Bishops hopping. Everyone at the table laughed except for one woman. Later in the evening, I took the opportunity to quietly tell her, “I’m really very sorry if my joke offended you”.
