  1. Mmmm ... for me, it's a revelation ... I was somewhat lukewarm about this set when announced, but with a chance to listen, I'm blown away ... by Jarret's restraint and choices, Henderson is actually to swing in parts, and pardon my French, but Jack is so killing on this... But the big thing so far is Gary Bartz ... he just plays some lovely things in the breakdowns sections, and Jack responds to him so well ... It's just sad that it's hung up ...
  2. Sidewinder, thanks for the info, I don't recall seeing those before whwn I was searching for his recordings, but it's more than likely that I forgot. Have a great time at the show.
  3. I also see on amazon, 2 releases from 1993 for Gerald: Jenna and Calafia on Discovery/WEA Any info on these ? Thanks,
  4. Will Adam Holzman be invovled ? I'm sorry, but I couldn't resist.
  5. Let me add to the chorus ... This thing lives up to and smashes the "hype" that's been bandied about. This is the Jazz Album of the Year. Yes, Bird is even better after he warms up a bit, but the first solo is just killer!
  6. B2 bomber, or at least it matches the shape of one. The toy one on my desk.
  7. I believe it's a conspiracy from the Post Office, to force everyone back to the vine by mail approach
  8. Uni is supposed to have a SACD announcement in April, as the rumour goes ... SInce they've tended to lump the SACD release seperate from the catalog reissues there still may be some hope .... Hey I said some hope
  9. I think Miles in Tokyo is great too, especially for the way the rhythm section responds to Sam when he's soloing. The amount of tension and reaction they create has always amazed me. Paul
  10. Took the words out of my mouth, on all counts. Can I jump on and add more agreement to this
  11. Hey is this that rare 12" dance mix Ran Blake did in the 80s ? Oh, my bad, I think the description and pic don't match
  12. Yep, I just went with amazon.de too, as the cduniverse price for the 2 disc sets pre order is $57.99 ! Supposedly the early rumour was that Dusty Groove (the Bastards!) said that they weren't available for import, due to possible US release. However, they're now on their site with 3/1 due date, so that appears to have changed. maybe. possibly. then again they may not arrive. or they could. or the big assed music corporation that owns the rights could some day figure out how to: 1. reduce marketing costs by leaking pre-release info to rabid fans, eliminating glossy ads in Maxim. 2. release them in the US at the same time as European / Japanese release, thereby eliminating the problem of super rabid fans ordering through those darned non US web sites. But then again ... Paul
  13. They might have the others later, as CD Universe has the Shorter and the Braxtons, as imports, with a due date of March 15th, $29.99 on a list price of $34.99. I tried to order the Braxtons last week from alapage.com in France, and it came back out of stock / cancelled. Paul
  14. Well, sure whatever's in the old distribution chain will still be there, but for some of the more obscure titles, how many copies will that mean? Paul
  15. Yes, the news was that the sale was now final, as Norman Lear's holding company secured the funding to go through (Concord Records current owner). The distribution will change over to Universal Music, and in my opinion would be the factor in active catalog reduction, once Uni starts to "manage" costs and Concord starts to see this. That said, there was a quote in the article about Fantasy's wonderful deep catalog, so there could be hope for some sort of reissue campaign, but depending on their partners, they may be looking for more big bang titles, like the recent Ray Charles album did for Concord. Paul
  16. Is the double rr thing in your some sort of secret code for a zany "Christian" underground ? > - Do you seek to please the Lord in yourr life? Yes... no? I like the Sky Blue, because I believe it would please the Lord. Paul
  17. If no one else has checked it with Safari, I will when I get home, of course in 8+ hours Paul
  18. Complete Django Reinhardt HMV Session 1936-1948 Box set was the other set the seller had and it went for $56.99 ! Not too bad a deal. Paul
  19. Ahh found it. Nice ! There's a CD set also, though it appears to be missing 3 discs ... Mmmm. Oh, different artist on the CD set. Paul
  20. ??? I had the wrong set, there's a Kenton presents that's at $20.50, and the seller has a little story and mentions that the set is lucky number 3615 or some such. Shuffling away now.
