  2. Just pre-ordered through this link... thanks much for the heads-up!
  3. I haven't followed the NL teams closely enough to have a good sense--if it does indeed become a Dodgers-Brewers NLCS, who do you guys think has the edge going in? I also think no matter what the outcome of the Boston-New York series, Houston remains the favorite in the American League to make it to the WS.
  4. OK, I was right about Happ, wrong about Price and Tanaka. Very happy just to take one of two at Fenway, but if Boston does the same to us in NY, they'll have Sale going for Game 5 back at Fenway. And I still can't see the Yankees beating the Sox three times in a row in this series.
  5. Oh good Lord, Tanaka’s performance against Houston is the last thing I’m concerned about right now! I’ll simply be grateful if he can get through 5 or 6 innings tonight without J.D., Mookie and Co. staking you guys to a seven-run lead. I didn’t realize that Wright is out of commission? But Boston’s in the driver’s seat for sure right now. If the Sox win tonight, it’s all but over. Yankees were able to pull off a three-game comeback against a very good Indians team last year, but I can’t see the 2018 Red Sox losing three in a row. It will be a hell of a clash, though, if we end up with a ‘Stros-Sox rematch in the ALCS.
  6. At least the Yankees made it close. But Boston’s put them into a must-win situation tomorrow IMO, and I don’t like Tanaka’s odds against the Red Sox lineup. As has been observed before, he relies on getting batters to chase pitches out of the zone—and the Sox are very good at not doing that, which is why they pounded him in his last start against them. And yes, I know about Price’s postseason woes and his struggles against the Yankees, but just Boston was due to solve Happ, Price is due to have a good outing against NY. I’m just taking consolation tonight in our having avoided an embarrassing first-game blowout, which is where things appeared headed after the first three innings. Didn’t get to listen to the Houston-Cleveland game, but sounds as if Houston played like a defending champ team that hasn’t lost a step. A couple of weeks ago I predicted to a friend that Cleveland could be the sleeper of the AL postseason, based on the strength of their starting rotation. They’re sure up against it with the Astros, though.
  7. Told ya Boston might very likely solve Happ.

  9. Yankees vs Red Sox is the epic battle we deserve
  10. Happy birthday to a splendid Organissimo! Hope your day is full of books and music and everything else that you enjoy.
  11. I just visited my brother in Racine, where Brewer fever was running high. I was hoping for a Milwaukee-Chicago NLDS and as a Midwesterner would be happy to see Milwaukee run the table on the National League side of things. 👍
  12. 108 actually, but yeah, agreed. Also, this will be the second time in just a couple of weeks that the Sox have faced Happ--if the series goes to five games, they'll have faced him three times in several weeks, and sooner or later they're going to solve him. If Sale and Price pitch dominant games at home, Boston could easily go to NY up 2-0. As of right now the betting odds favor the Red Sox. Plus they have home-field advantage. Boston won the season series 10 games to 9; I wonder if the trend of each team often winning in a lopsided fashion will continue in the ALDS.
  13. Well, I don’t think Yankee fans could have asked for a better or more enjoyable WC win, short of Britton giving up a HR to a guy who led the majors in that category. And Boone made some good choices tonight, pulling Sevy in the 5th before things got out of hand and putting Hech in as a defensive replacement for Andujar when the lead was still 2-0. Clash of the AL East titans up next! Fenway will be rockin’ come Friday night.
  14. Bottom of the 5th and I'm already almost out of nails to bite.
  15. A history of Sleepy ... including this giant-sized Sleepy who's about to crush some poolside guests with his paw:
  16. Sleepy went to sleep at a Travelodge on a farm? The article that Dan posted made me feel a bit better about Severino starting tonight. On the flipside, the last time he pitched against the A's it was a disaster (though Sanchez played a role in that outing's results as well). I much prefer Sleepy, who looks as if he might have enjoyed a substance or two before turning in.
  17. Is that chain still around? I started following your 2018 fave after the 12th ended last night (though I briefly toyed with continuing to listen on my cellphone while lying in bed, which would have evoked some transistor-radio childhood memories) but decided to head straight into slumberland instead. About tonight, I think Sevy will be on a very short hook—hopefully he can at least surpass last year’s WC debacle (wouldn’t take much). As John Sterling, that sage of the Yankee airwaves, has been known to profoundly observe, “You can’t predict baseball!”
  18. Heading into the 12th inning now—I may have to give up and turn in for the night if this keeps going. Cubs have no more position players left to come off the bench.
  19. Quite a battle royale at Wrigley tonight, now heading into the bottom of the 11th. Really pulling for the Cubs, because I’d love to see a Chicago-Milwaukee NLDS.
  20. Bottom of the 7th is certainly proving to be a wild affair, though. I'm listening to the radio broadcast and Wrigley sounds LOUD! Heyward at bat right now with the bases loaded and two out.
  21. My favorite material so far is the first disc with the chamber orchestra. Like you, I want to revisit the live recordings with a more attentive ear.
  22. The Cubs better start hitting in the next hour, or their season will be over. One run in fourteen innings of tiebreaker and postseason play so far.
  23. Some excellent live material new to me on this set:
