  1. Slick CTI production and possibly inappropriate drummer notwithstanding, I've always had a weakness for the album. Glad to see that someone else likes it. Very slick but nice. Like you I've never taken to Gadd's rather stiff drumming. Better here than elsewhere maybe?
  2. Art Farmer/Jim Hall; Big Blues. CTI (UK pressing)
  3. Beautifully produced albums and excellent pressings. Sold few over the years, still have both the Fortune's though I'm not sure I want to keep them. I don't go for all those bells and things these days.
  4. I've been away for a few days so I'm late with my best wishes for s apeedy recovery. I'm glad things are improving. Good luck.
  5. I have this somehere. As it's not had an spin since I don't know when I think it deserves an airing.
  6. And what about those thin double cd cases? In my experience one if not both of the cds doesn't release without a lot of bending and swearing.

    Jeff Clyne R.I.P.

Very sad news. I saw Jeff many times in my younger days, always a quality player. I heard he was still active not too long ago.
  8. Have a very happy birthday.
  9. I've been with Lovefilm for quite a while too and only used it for movies. I never really thought about getting jazz dvds, but then I'm not really that keen on them preferring to listen rather than watch. But on Bill's recommendation I'll have a look and see what there is anything to tempt me.
  10. That's right. It's on Lonehill LHJ 10371 couples with a Verve Konitz album You and Lee plus a couple of odd tracks from Newport by with Bill Evans and Don Elliott.
  11. Belated greetings GA. I trust it was great day.
  12. My recollection of Horo albums were the awful pressings. My Loadstar isn't too bad but my Unity double is bad. The three or four single albums that passed through my collection were all bad to some degree. If they do appear I'd like to get the Lester Bowie and the Sun Ra Quartets but I've really no confidence that we will ever see them remastered.
  13. How is this album? Very nice but maybe not quite essential. But anything with Tina Brooks is worth having imo,. Label is misspelled, it's Felsted
  14. Freddie Redd; The Connection. Felstead (Japan) Actually credited to Howard McGhee, obi covered Howard's name. Next on Benny Green Swings The Blues. Enrica (Japan)
  15. Best From The West Vol 1, a musical blindfold test. Blue Note 10" (late UA pressing)
  16. Chet Baker In Paris 1955-1956 (the tracks with Dick Twardzik); Blue Star
  17. I doubt that the cheesemakers of Roquefort would appreciate their cheese being called Danish Blue
  18. Harold Mabern; Rakin' and Scrapin'. OJC/Prestige
  19. Roquefort! Lovely! One of the very best.
  20. Same here.
  21. Very good news, hope it is just the start too.
  22. Happy Birthday Chris.
  23. Have a very happy birthday Brownie.
  24. Agree! Me too, sound great on every playing.
  25. A fabulous record. The mono lp sounds better than any cd issue imo.
