  1. Check out the Keystone Trio cds on Milestone.
  2. I learnt a long time ago NEVER leave a record or cd you fancy in the shop. You'll want by the time you get home. When you go back, if your lucky it's still there, usually it's not.
  3. Konitz and Marsh are probably the best and long lived partnerships in jazz. Two minds that think alike. Their simultaneous soloing is often breathtaking. All their recordings can be safely recommended. If you are asking about Topsy, that's an Atlantic date with Billy Bauer, Oscar Pettiford and Kenny Clarke from 1955. I can't lay my hands on the disc at the moment but I think the title is Lee Konitz with Warne Marsh.
  4. These are my favourites in no special order Paul Bley Kenny Werner Uri Caine Myra Melford Too many tie for number five.
  5. It's tricky but I think I'd have to go for Empyrean Isles
  6. At a decent price you can't really go wrong.
  7. I'm home most of the day so that's when I listen. I try but often don't succeed to get about two hours in each day. When my wife's home jazz is usually off the menu but she might accept to the odd ballad or maybe some Grant Green in the evening. I don't do an awful lot of driving but on the whole I don't enjoy listening to jazz in the car. I may have to change my mind about that as I've an awful lot to play.
  8. I am sure PD's recollection of the old thread is correct. Shame, a second volume would be very acceptable.
  9. I love this set too. Both Desmond and Hall amaze me. I've been playing Desmond Blue a lot lately too.
  10. Jeez, I had to look it up!!
  11. I'm still a Blue Note junkie so I'll probably be going back from time to time, at least for the present. When he could Tom was usually pretty helpful, I guess he will again went he next foul up occurs. So it's still in my favourites.
  12. Thanks Jim, definitely the place for me. John Shelton(on the bnbb)
  13. This was a regular on the old bnbb so why not here- Yesterday Gerry Mulligan/Thelonious Monk; Mulligan Meets Monk Barry Harris; Bull's Eye Lars Gullin Vol 5, First Walk
  14. Anyone heard this Concord cd yet and care to give an opinion?
  15. This looks like home to me (john shelton on the bnbb). I like the software and the looks. Great stuff, thanks for the hard work organissimo.
