  1. Maybe, but I'd still like a copy. Probably difficult to get over here though.
  2. I really enjoy the atmosphere on the Prestige dates. Cool and relaxed, no pressure.
  3. Now I feel bad about having this on my collection
  4. A few replays here this week for Sonny Rollins' "The House I Live In".
  5. Looks terrific, I'd love it but can't justify the expense.
  6. Prompted by the above posts. King Records pressing.
  7. I don't really keep up any more. Jazz Journal helps a little as does Amazon recommendations. Mainly though it's recommendations and alerts from you guys on this board. I'd forgotten all about Crazy Jazz a it been many years since I bought from him. So thanks for the reminder David. His monthly list does look like it's worth checking out.
  8. Still on the Rollins' set. Terrific stuff. Work Time still sounds as remarkable as it did when I first bought it 55 or so years ago.
  9. Brian Morton's take on BN at 75. http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/articles/3KBcbsK5JNcN4cwjB0fpcRn/blue-note-at-75-all-that-jazz
  10. Guys and Dolls is a great cd. Gets a lot of play here.
  11. Today's vinyl First UK issue (mono)
  12. I tend to agree with Lon. I can usually find something fresh in Evans'recordings. That said some of his strongest work is as a sideman.
  13. Belated birthday Greetings. Hope it was a good one.
  14. Happy Birthday Jeff. May all the Lacy albums come your way.
  15. Happy Birthday GA.
  16. The final chapter, about 40 pages deal with recent developments. These include Joe Lovano, Brian Blade etc as well as Norah Jones, Glasper and Porter.
  17. Not a bad summation. It's not a critical guide, more of an overview of the development of the label. Incidentally I'm not a fan of Cook's book. For me there is more of interest This new book
  18. thnx for sharing your impressions Thanks for the heads up on the "Workout". It's not easy to keep up with the bonus track issues.
  19. Anyone know a UK source for the Mile Davis 10" vinyl?
  20. I agree with Lon, a good book to have. Very nicely produced and not too bad value from Amazon UK. The BN story isn't that lengthy but nicely written and informative. Fine illustrations, including contact sheets from photo shoots, and short reviews/descriptions of many albums. I can't imagine BN fans not wanting this.
  21. Happy Birthday Simon. I hope we can get you back to Portsmouth Jazz before too long.
