  1. You forgot to add another 243 of these "!" at the end of your sentence. You're right- I didn't even put one "!" there
  2. Vince Guaraldi- A Charlie Brown Christmas Kenny Burrell-Have Yourself A Soulful Little Christmas Ramsey Lewis The Sound of Christmas An Oscar Peterson Christmas ...and the Miles Davis Quintet track 'Blue Christmas' with Bob Dorough...the track cracks me up everytime I hear it
  3. Was just listening to It's Time earlier today-yet another great album!
  4. If you're a fan then, yeah definitely, you'll want those McLeans. You'll kick yourself later when they're OOP and being sold at collector's prices. Get them RIGHT NOW!
  5. Coming in the mail: Ray Russell Quartet-Turn Circle-CBS Realm Jazz Lowell Davidson Trio-ESP Disk
  6. THAT album cover is badazzz!
  7. Maybe its just me but I absolutely love 'Bout Soul-some of the most out-leaning McLean that I know of!
  8. Neither of these have made my collection yet so now is probably the time if at all. I'm a Jackie fan, should I be without either of these? Both are very, very good. The first track on Jacknife is worth the price of admission as well as the final track on Right Now! Sad to see these go OOP (Right Now! again). For some time a good deal of McLean's BN output, sans 'Bout Soul, Tippin' the Scales, SSS and OSB, were readily available.
  9. My wife is a Shinedown fan so we saw Shinedown, Avenge Sevenfold and Buckcherry on Saturday.
  10. My parents just hi-tailed it out of there this morning. I checked the road conditions for them before they left and looks like they're safe if they take it slow. I'm not crazy about them making the drive but they insisted and would not allow me to come get them. Its been a goofy fall. This morning we were getting pounded and everything was covered in a thick blanket of snow, and now everything's practically melted. Gotta love Ohio weather. And now the weather service has just issued a lake-effect snow warning
  11. That one was recently released on CD in Japan. REALLY NOW! Thanks for the heads up!
  12. Good Gracious, Everything I play is Funky were and I believe Hot Dog may have been too (I think it was part of that first series of RG's) or it could've been Pretty Things. Alive, too, was part of that first series that wasn't clearly marked as Rare Grooves (kind of like how the first series (1994) of Conn's weren't clearly marked either (except for the OBI strip). Those first RG's, however, did not have OBI strips so they were even harder to identify.
  13. I wouldn't say these blow necessarily, but they left me somewhat cold (pardon the pun ) and I eventually sold: Christmas with the Gearge Shearing Quintet A Dave Brubeck Christmas Like I said, they're not bad albums, but they seemingly lack that holdiay feeling that I get from the the Vince Guaraldi and even the Ramsey Lewis Christmas albums. Just my opinion

  15. That one is! It was the in the first series (with the white inlay trays) and not clearly marked as Rare Grooves. Others in that first series are Byrd's Fancy Free and Pearson's Sweet Honey Bee. I also believe Smith's Drives was in there too.
  16. Definitely! I think only Odyssey has seen US reissue and that was back in 1996! I believe another made have had made Japanses reissue...'Freelancing' maybe?
  17. We've had snow (including today) for about two weeks now. We barely had a 'fall' this year.
  18. I don't believe Midnight Creeper was, can't speak for Black and Blue though.
  19. And, if they could reissue: Monk's "Big Band and Quartet" Mulligan's "What Else is there to Say?" Hayes' "New York Sessions" in nice, newely remastered editions to update the old "Columbia Masterpiece" editions
  20. OH YEAH! And this one too:
  21. My sentiment exactly. That's one of the best bonus tracks I've ever heard on a CD. Agree on the bonus track-worth the price just for the that track alone.
  22. Those Don Ellis sides are also very nice, especially Monterey.
  23. I like it! /Shaft Another . Not essential Rouse or bossa nova for that matter, but very enjoyable.

    Blue Note

It IS about the music but, for some of us, it also about the complete aesthetic experience. I agree on both counts, but I do lean more into the original artwork/aesthetic camp.
