  1. My source also told me the reason they gave up on the "Bird" packaging was because of a number of reasons. 1.) The cds would get stuck on the bird's legs and sometimes limbs would be broken trying to remove the cd. PETA really would have gotten on them for that. 2.) The bird was prone to flying away, and in doing so, the set would be lost. The management figured customers might not be too happy. Customers don't mind Tetanus, but having your $50 set fly away MIGHT be too much. 3.) The bird would need feeding, and if not fed, would die and make a terrible smell. 4.) Sometimes the bird would bite the box set user. Actually, my source says it happened quite frequently. My source says the day was saved when they realized that they had a bunch of those AOL tins, so they used what they had and asked their friends if they had extras. It was a happy day at the label when they realized they had found enough AOL cd tins.
  2. Don't give them any ideas. You should see what the original packaging looked like! Through a secret source at the label, I was able to get an image of the ad that was to run in the major jazz magazines for the set with its' original packaging.
  3. What about the Burger King?
  4. If she's so worried about top-heavy chickens, she needs to help this guy out. Ol' Mayor McCheese must have a terrible back.
  5. H A P P Y B I R T H D A Y !!!!!!!!!!!
  6. The box reminds me of those collector's tins that Disney released some DVDs in recently. Part of me appreciates their efforts to be clever in their packaging, but a lot of their attempts don't wow me. This one included.
  7. I do it with Coltrane too. Another group I drift away from is the Beatles. I grew up collecting their records and listening to them constantly. Now, I won't listen to any of their music for a year or so, then I'll put some on and listen to it constantly for about a week. By then I've got my fill and it's back to Beatles' hibernation.
  8. Jacman, I dig this week's haiku.
  9. I agree conn. I appreciate the fact that we can be adults around here, but I can also see Chuck's point. I do appreciate that Jacman warned us that the content wasn't pleasant. But since I'm a curious cat, I had to see it. Yuck! Jacman really did me a favor because I was considering getting a motorcycle. After having those horrible images bouncing around my head all day, I'm sticking with my car. :rsmile:
  10. Thanks for the posting this, Adam. This was a big hit around our office last week. It looks like he got some good tools, but we emailed this link to my coworker's wife (who knows about this stuff) and she said one of the Beanie things was worth $1900 alone. One of my favorite lines: "I am amazed anyone pays more then a dollar a piece for these things. What happened to collecting STAMPS? Pay what you want for them! IT ALL GOES TO HOMEDEPOT !!!!!! and BEER!" And it looks like he's made a little cottege industry for himself.

  15. Yuck! This is the dark side of American Choppers. I guess I don't want a motorcycle anymore. My wife will thank you.
  16. Thanks Bruce! As far as I know the Beetle problem is really bad in the San Bernadino mountains. There's a lot of fuel up there around Crestline.

    W E L C O M E ! Come on in! The water's fine.
  19. Thanks for asking, Berigan! We're doing fine where we are, but the smoke is pretty bad. We had to go out to the desert and Saturday and went through on the 15 Saturday afternoon and later that evening. It was pretty awful. There were two fires going on either side of the freeway. I think we were some of the last people to get through before they shut down the freeway. We live near the mountains ourselves and I just hope nothing starts out by us. It was amazing how far down into civilization the San Bernadino fire was burning. We were really shocked by that as we went by. I feel so sick for those affected. Please pray for us out here.
