My source also told me the reason they gave up on the "Bird" packaging was because of a number of reasons.
1.) The cds would get stuck on the bird's legs and sometimes limbs would be broken trying to remove the cd. PETA really would have gotten on them for that.
2.) The bird was prone to flying away, and in doing so, the set would be lost. The management figured customers might not be too happy. Customers don't mind Tetanus, but having your $50 set fly away MIGHT be too much.
3.) The bird would need feeding, and if not fed, would die and make a terrible smell.
4.) Sometimes the bird would bite the box set user. Actually, my source says it happened quite frequently.
My source says the day was saved when they realized that they had a bunch of those AOL tins, so they used what they had and asked their friends if they had extras. It was a happy day at the label when they realized they had found enough AOL cd tins.
