  1. There's a terrific garbage dump located near my city... If they have printed these up, maybe they could just sell them on the BN website.
  2. I would have completely agreed five years ago, but now anything is possible. We've entered Bizarro-World. All they have to do is say that it will help against terrorists and our leaders will lap it up like Pavlovian bongwater. 21st century American firsts: We've had two elections that are suspected to be fraudulent, but nothing was really done about it. We've invaded a sovereign nation for ever-changing reasons. I would love to see someone make a list of things that have happened in the last four years that would have seemed impossible before. It's enough to make your nervous system go "Tilt".
  3. And people that drive less fuel-efficient vehicles pay more too!!!!! Sounds like the current system, which taxes Hummers and SUV's more per mile than Hybrids, works pretty darn well to me!!!! I hate this big brother stuff. They're going to have GPS chips in your rear before too long. Is that tax deduction still available on the Hummer's? The one where they'd get 20 grand or so off the vehicle. It sure seems like government could do more with less in the past... Please don't get into a Republican/Democrat match. I'm neither. I think both parties are worthless. Our current leader sure doesn't act like a fiscal Republican anyway. Soon we'll have our national ID, less freedoms, and we still won't be any safer from the "thugs and terrorists." You just gotta laugh. Now I understand how Nero could fiddle away as Rome burned.
  4. That's really cool, Scott! One nice thing about replacing my Blue Note cds with the RVGs is that I've had the opportunity to pass the old cds on to people who were unfamiliar with classic jazz.
  5. That's what I was wondering. Is Blue Note gonna take a hit reprinting artwork and repackaging all these? I wonder if they'll just sit on it for a few years and release it as a RVG "Collector's Choice" title at a higher price.
  6. Good one, Couw!
  7. You ain't got hole dug yet? You're WAYYY behind! I been livin' out of my bunker since Ruby Ridge! My scream for Kevin earlier was not blaming him in any way for the change or the info about the release in the first place. I was calling him for help and additional infor much like the Bat signal. And, like Batman, he has come through again with the info. Thanks Kevin. Since it's dangerous to give albums exotic titles anymore and the fact that LaRoca/Sims is probably near retirement age...
  8. Edit: To add Tyra.
  9. Agreed. I didn't even realize that Saddam was on the cover of that one ...
  10. Do not blame Blue Note... it isn't their doing. Kevin Bresnahan: You've opened a can of worms by offering the information about BASRA. Still, I'm glad to know the truth of the situation no matter how ridiculous it might appear. Thanks for submitting the post. I agree. Thank you Kevin for sharing this.
  11. I didn't mind your cover. (And, in a way, any thread involving RVG is going to be political.) Actually, I'm kind of finding some (albeit sad) humor in all this. If it's Pete Sims' call to change the title — so be it. He's the artist. Is it censorship? I don't know. If it truly is Sims's decision, perhaps it's just revision. What if he retitled it Poop? And I still say go with Tyra. If they retitled it to that, I just might buy it. I'm with you, go with Tyra.
  12. Now I'll be able to sell my Conn for $$$
  13. Tunisia! With the current regime there, very much doubt know terrorists would have been allowed in that country without facing immediate arrest. The 2002 attack on the synagogue at Djerba had no followup. Morocco and Algeria would be the two North African countries where Al Qaeda sympathizers would be able to roam, incognito of course. Now how about renaming 'Casablanca' the movie? Don't give them any ideas. Next thing you know, they'll be burning copies of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby's The Road to Morocco. or... Jimi Hendrix' AXIS Bold As Love might be equated to the Axis of Evil. Time to dig a hole and climb into it.
  14. I deleted my cover. I forgot this wasn't the Politics forum.
  15. I guess some nutjobs could get bent about the title, but let's remember the facts: 1 - Nobody from Basra bombed the WTC. Actually, where's the love for Basra? That's a place we've "liberated" - American's should be proud. When they see that title, they can be reminded of the noble liberation of Iraq from the "thugs and terrorists". How could any red, white, and blue blooded American be offended by the album title. Remember, mission accomplished. I hear the people of Basra are now eating apple pie and driving Chevys. Soon they'll be believing in Jesus. Hallelujah!!!! This is their greatest hour. We're the great liberators. They've had their elections. They're FREE. 2 - Where's the outrage towards the Saudis? Heck, most of the terrorists where from that country. 3 - There's no proof that Iraq was even involved. 4 - I'd be more offended that our leaders haven't done everything they could to get the real culprit, Bin Laden. 5 - People who buy Toby Keith records probably don't buy Blue Note reissues. I guess we're back in the McCarthy fifties... USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  16. or the Gigolo.
  17. I don't understand what the offense is about the title of the album. How will renaming or not releasing this title make any difference? I can't see this helping or hurting Basra, or improve the situation in Iraq?!? Maybe I'm missing something. I would see this as a great opportunity for Sims to share his feelings about the war. I'm sure a music paper would give coverage to his feelings regarding this release. It's Blue Note; everyone knows Blue Note.
  18. I'm glad the title change isn't coming from the label, but from the artist. How about: T.A.F.K.A.B (The Album Formerly Known As Basra). I don't think Prince is using that acronym anymore. (You can't image the restraint I showed. Many more titles first came to mind )
  19. Happy Valentines Day to Rachel and all the ladies on the board! I'm sorry, I just can't get myself to wish a Happy Valentine's Day to all the guys... (not that there's anything wrong with it). I feel the strong need to talk about sports or something...
  20. yeah I am....just wanted to see what goes on here (gotta break the ice somehow). I know there's better artists out there....but yeah The smilie in your original post made me think you were joking... I worked for a guy who LOVED Boney James. I tried to turn him on to other stuff, but he stuck with the da' bone. Ouch! Welcome!
  21. Thanks! Lot's more updates to come.
  22. Thanks!
