  1. Be honest, Dude. That's pretty much your look NOW. I'm married now, my wife wouldn't leave the house with me if I looked like that still.
  2. GoM, I just wanted to thank you for posting these shows. I'm really enjoying them also.
  3. Next time I'm in SF, I'm going to check this out. Too cool!
  4. Couw, Bertrand, I'm with you on that. I really love Casady's playing on Crown of Creation and Blows Against the Empire. To me, that's some fine bass playin'. I always loved that photo on the back of the Hot Tuna lp, Burgers. I used to think (when I was a kid), now that's the life, living down by the beach, having a cool old car, and wearing the coolest hippie clothes around. That was pretty much my look at 18.
  5. If I have time, I may accept your challenge. I just wanted to compliment you on your Jack Casady avatar. He's one of my favorite rocks bassists. When I was a teenager, I played bass in a bands, and he was my biggest influence. It's funny, whenever I pick up a bass, I immediately play in his style. I sound like a mix of Casady and Phil Lesh (late '60s early '70s eras).
  6. I like the boxing motif, Joe.
  7. I hope you have a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
  8. I wonder if the two complaints were filed by Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake. It was nice seeing a non-lipsynced halftime show. Some people are just stupid.
  9. Tranemonk, That's great! I hope you enjoy them.
  10. I too love the Horace Parlan box. My question of Tranemonk is, how come you still have your $100 Mosaic gift card? If someone right now gave me a Mosaic gift card, I'd probably be on the site already making my order. It's like giving crack to a crackhead and having him hold onto it for a while. It just doesn't seem right.
  11. Oh, you're linking to images, not attaching them. Why don't you just right click on the image, save it to your computer, and then attach the message in the "File Attachment" area when you post. Good luck!
  12. If it helps, leading is the spacing between lines and kerning is the space between letters. On the color issue. Miles oftentimes had a much smaller budget, thus he had one spot color and black (2 color). To me, that's the really classic BN cover look. I think if anyone wants to learn about duotones, Reid Miles is the man to study. I love his work. I just wish that I had all those Francis Wolfe photos for my covers.
  13. hmmmm.... Are they .jpg images? or .gif? Are they in RGB color mode or CMYK. I know that CMYK jpgs won't open in a browser. Beyond that...
  14. I remember when Gerald Wilson's Portraits CD was re-released as one of the "collector's choice" titles about ten years. I saw that cd everywhere, but I just wasn't interested in picking it up. In fact, I had purchased ALL the CC titles and this was the only one I had skipped. One day, I found a copy of Portraits on vinyl for a few bucks, so I picked that up. The price was right and I was curious about it. WOW! I LOVED that album. I found I was playing the LP so much. Within a few days, I had purchased the Portraits CD. This Mosaic set was one that I was really excited about. I ordered it as soon as it was available to order. I think you'll really like it. I agree with Rooster, some of the material isn't what I'd usually go for, but Wilson pulls it off nicely. I also want to recommend Wilson's other work. Even his CDs from the 90's on are good. I really enjoyed Theme For Monterey. :rsmile:
  15. I think the attached images have to be under 100k. Maybe that's your problem. Good luck!
  16. Nice cover, Couw (Tippin')! Thanks Ron! Hopefully I can re-enter the fray tomorrow. Late, That's a great observation about Roques vs. Miles. Roques does pull off the feel, but there is a difference. Personally I prefer the how tight Reid Miles covers were, but I do respect and appreciate Roques work and I'd love to see more of it.
  17. I totally agree with you, Larry. I've listened to this album a few more times and I'm really happy with it. JaMo does play the hell out of his piano. Even though I don't love the processed guitar tones at time, I do think the guitarist did a great job on the album. It's just that to me the piano and the distorted guitar don't resonate well together on Jump Up, but I'm still very impressed with the notes they're playing. If the guitarist would have had a tone like T-Bone Walker's, I think that track would have been amazing. My thanks to Alexander for starting this thread and inspiring me to buy this CD.
  18. I hope you have a GREAT birthday!!!
  19. ... any Mosaic Select?
  20. Couw! Thanks Jim - I was just trying to go for an abstract mid-sixties look with the idea of Freedom. I'll have to modify it make it more subdued later.
  21. I LOVE this set. It's one of the few I pre-ordered. I still think the Roach set is worth investigating.
  22. Thanks Late! Couw, I dig the new cover.
  23. I like that cover too. This was a fun thread. Any love for my new Burrell cover? I'm feeling like a wallflower.
