  1. My friend Jesse Charnow is shown on the drums here with Anoushka Shankar and others. This kid was massively talented very young, so it does not suprise me he is a professional musician at such a young age. His parents are so cool, they have bands practicing and partying at their house late into the night! B-)
  2. That's an awful small harp, Michael. RIP Percy, and I echo the gratitude of others for your contribution.
  3. TMac has put the clamps on Dirk!
  4. How many acres of fabric go into one of Sir Charles' suits? Dude is LARGE, probably all that Original Recipe.
  5. Hey, I didn't knock Alicia like that Rainy. I think she's talented, stunningly beautiful, has plenty of positive attributes...I just don't dig her tunes. I also listen to more enlightened rappers who have positive messages about women.

  7. Yeah, I found Angie Stone's first album awful so that doesn't suprise me.
  8. Jay Shroeder Todd Marinovich Jeff Hostetler
  9. I don't think Phil would want to coach the Lakers or the Knicks, barring some miraculous off-season personnel moves. Why ruin his career winning percentage? Denver sure got stomped tonight, to the point of losing the momentum they had from the game 1 victory. Suns & Memphis underway...
  10. I can hear the talent Alicia Keys has, Soul Stream. But if she has soul, it's yet to make it into an original song I've heard. I could easily see her covering Donny Hathaway well, and I can see the talent disparity between she and Joss. Maybe there's better Keys I haven't heard. I heard her first album and wasn't feeling it. Any videos I've seen have been pleasing to the eye but not the ears.
  11. There is an artistry to rap music that those with minimal exposure and no interest in the genre are unable to recognize. They always have the same complaints, all of which can be attributed to a lack of working knowledge and a failure to actually listen to the music. But don't let me stop the latest rap-bashing festival. Let's hear about how the drums are so repetitive and the music's unoriginal and every other word is an expletive. Yawn. I wouldn't rate Alicia Keys higher than Joss Stone. They both have the same problem to my ears--a lack of quality songwriting. Neither have achieved what Jill Scott did on her latest album, imo.
  12. I saw those puny cars in Amsterdam and thought, "imagine that, a car I can kick over."

  14. I want Phoenix to win it all, but I don't think they can do it. They haven't got the defense or the boards. The Suns offense will stall against a team that is solid in the half court (San Antonio, Miami, Detroit). The defense will clamp down, and it turns into the Duncan/Shaq/Rasheed low post show. No turnovers, no fastbreaks. Someone said Shaq didn't look as good during the game as the highlights. I didn't think Duncan looked 100%. My money would be on the defending champs right now.
  15. Susan Atkins Susan Sarandon Sarah Jessica Parker
  16. Is this different from "I Don't Want Nobody To Give Me Nothing (Open The Door I'll Get It Myself)" from the Carryin' On Rare Groove reissue?

  18. This thread is great, thanks for keeping it going guys!
  19. Yeah, peace Bruce. I'm thinking a 7-game thriller Pistons/Heat series will decide the East, and the winner will take down whoever comes out of the West. Duncan looks SLOW, I don't think the Spurs can do it without him healthy. I hope the Suns can just out-offense everyone all the way to the title, that would be fun to watch. Sleeper team: Houston--if they can play like they did in Game 1, they're a contender.

  21. Go McNuggets! Go Suns! Go Bulls! How 'bout this Nocioni kid? 25 & 18 will get it done. Shaq looks ferocious.
  22. Fixed! For me, Alicia Keys sounds too manufactured. Joss Stone is more raw than Alicia, and they're both overproduced. Jill Scott is a few atmospheres above both of them, imo. Haven't heard the Legend dude yet.
  23. George was hurt, and do I have to reiterate how horrible Payton was for the Lakers? Outside of Shaq, Kobe, and Fisher, the Lakers never won shit with any of those other guys. I've got excuses, sure--they're just good ones.
  24. They're from an album called Mr. Natural, and are my favorite tracks in the set--particularly "Shirley."
  25. But Miami isn't as bored as the Lakers were, and isn't totally dysfunctional because of personal issues. Also, shouldn't a federal judge issue an injunction banning 1st round series in the Eastern Conference until they can field more than 4 good teams? I think the Hornets-Heat series went to about 35 games last year before one of the coaches died and they had to forfeit. Guy I don't buy that crap about dysfunctional Lakers. Hell, they were 3 time champs 3 of the last 4 years at the time. They still had their nucleus of the best 2 players in the league. Dysfunction or not, they added two future hall of famers, Malone and Peyton. So dysfunction or not, they still should have been good enough to go 7 games before that ass kicking. Nobody wants to give Detroit any credit, so be it. When the Pistons kick ass again, everybody hit elbows and knees...... Detroit Rocks!! B-) Um, news flash: the Pistons didn't have to play the Lakers with Karl Malone. He was hurt. True story. So what..... Karl Malone was NOT there when they won those 3 championships.... and that still left them with a loaded team..... and the 2 best players According to Lakers news, they still had the best team......but..... Karl Malone is not your excuse...... You know what, a lot of Laker fans I know in OC did not like Phil Jackson and now they are PRAYING to get him back..... B-) You're the one who wants to pretend as if your Pistons beat the Lakers at full strength. I didn't even think the Lakers would get past San Antonio sans Malone. I haven't even mentioned that the Lakers no longer had Robert Horry. A whole decade of championship teams had either Robert Horry or Steve Kerr in the lineup. It isn't a coincidence. Not to mention future Hall Of Famer Gary Payton was a horrible fit in the Lakers' system, and played the worst ball of his career in LA.
