  1. Yeah, lots of shame losing to Jordan's Bulls in their prime. Shaq had barely been in the league a few seasons. Taking the Magic to the Finals firmly established the Diesel as a new premier force in the NBA.

  3. Not to be a pedant, but this is an oft-repeated myth. ← Hey, thanks Wheel. I had no idea.
  4. Hope it was a good one!
  5. I was just reading an article in an airplane magazine on Shanghai and must say that from the pictures it looked like an incredible place to visit (especially for someone with a lot of bread). A sprawling metropolis of both new and ancient architecture, fascinating traditions and beautiful scenery, and stylish restaurants of appealing atmosphere and food (though I'm sure the prices were through the roof for the places featured in the article). It will be a great experience! I'd think the only man-made object visible from outer space would be a must-see. Plus there's scores of smokin' hot Chinese ladies!

  7. Sad to read he's gone, I'm a fan. I've got Sin & Soul on vinyl and several other scattered tracks. RIP.
  8. I only caught part of this during my layover in SF...the Pistons erased a Miami lead and looked well on the way to winning. I departed with little doubt they'd take it, and was shocked to read the outcome. The much-maligned Eddie Jones is stepping up, 19 points I read. He can't guard Rip, but he's doing his best to match Rip's energy on both ends.

  11. I'll agree with everyone here, this is a good one. "Hobo Joe" and "My Sweet Passion" are my favorites.
  12. Happy Birthday, Jim!
  13. Gotta hand it to Manu, walks and all. Those were two daggers.
  14. That "Pharohs" stuff is fun, Kari S. I downloaded it from emusic a while back. In addition, The Daktaris are cool Afrobeat stuff available on emusic. There's also compilations called "Booniay" and "The Danque" that feature more funky Afrobeat stuff.

  16. The Pistons showed some savvy with that bumping and grabbing stuff--notice Rip's Oscar-worthy exaggerated flops whenever bumped or grabbed? Right out of the Reggie Miller textbook. The Heat were more concerned about getting free than communicating to the refs, that's a mistake. Gotta act. I thought the Pistons committed reaching fouls on more than a few Heat turnovers, but the Heat need to exaggerate for the refs and not make such dangerous passes.
  17. Defense, defense, defense. The Pistons play as a unit, their defensive adjustments are a thing of beauty to behold. They might have the quickest help defense I've ever seen. The Heat don't move the ball well enough in a half court set to break it. The Pistons looked sharper on both ends of the floor. Ben Wallace played magnificent, even contributing timely buckets to go with his usual defensive intensity. :bwallace2:

  19. I've got volumes one and two of this series which feature African-themed jazz from Blue Note albums. Some cool Art Blakey tracks!
  20. For entertainment's sake, please threaten each other with possible avatars.
  21. Now that's layin' some serious shit on the line!
  22. Burbank's starting to smolder, must be over 90 today. It's going to be a scorcher of a summer.
  23. I'll have to get this one out and give it another spin. The consensus in an earlier thread was that the album starts strong then tails off. I remember liking the whole thing, but I have a pretty high level of "cheese tolerance"...
