Import classical CDs, large list, most under $10
riverrat replied to riverrat's topic in Offering and Looking For...
Price reductions...further reductions are unlikely. Will list these CDs on Amazon Marketplace if they do not sell here fairly soon. FWIW, these prices are well below the lowest on Amazon Marketplace for similar condition, as of a few days ago, and it is usually unclear whether the offerings there are import versions like these. Thanks again for looking! -
Import classical CDs, large list, most under $10

This one is gone.. Mozart- Opera Arias, Kiri Tekanawa, London SO, Colin Davis cond. Philips 411 148-2 “Made in W. Germany by PDO” M-/M- $3 -
PM coming RE: Fuller, Curtis South American Cookin' Epic 8 reissue FWIW, it would be nice if people could: 1) post here before sending a PM, and 2) list which titles they are interested in This would provide an unambiguous public record of who spoke for each item 1st, and also reduce confusion about which titles are already spoken for. This is standard practice in other forums I frequent and works really well! (Just sayin..)

PM coming RE Way Out West plus / Contemporary / Japanese pressing - $10
-
Yes it is and I tried posting there 1st. But my post went down the queue so fast, buried in the avalanche of similar minutae about pressings and such, that I didn't get a response. It says "JVC" in the center spindle (matrix). Does this mean Japan or US manufacture???? This is very important and I must know!
-
Hi All- Here's a question for the experts...I bought a used CD today: J.J. Johnson and Kai Winding The Great Kai & J.J. Impulse MCAD-42012 Matrix says "Mfd by JVC" Tray insert says "Manufactured for MCA Records, Inc." No other info on where the CD was pressed, or mastering engineer. Is this a Japan pressing? In an old post on SH Hans indicates this series came out in 1990; there was an earlier issue #(254 634-2) 32XD-620. I guess mine is the 2nd CD pressing. Does anyone know who mastered these, or if they are the same mastering? In any case, it is a nice sounding mastering, not shrill.

Some AP SACDs now being mastered by Sterling Sound
riverrat replied to dreamcatcher_43's topic in Re-issues
Interesting, I have not been following those threads close enough to notice. Or perhaps they are deleted before I even see them! I still visit SH frequently, as there is a lot of traffic and some knowledgeable people posting. Hans is correct in noting the inordinate focus on sonics (as opposed to the music itself) but the forum is source of a lot of knowledge (or at least opinions) on hi fi equipment. But I agree there are also some pretty arrogant posters, way too much unquestioning hero worship and a focus on the best sounding masterings that is beyond obsessive. It borders on the hilarious at times. And it does seem like the cabal of "gorts" runs the place kind of like the military junta runs Burma... -
