  1. What would the session have been named? Kind of Right Kind of Nice Kind of Steamy Afterglowin with the Miles Davis Quintet I'm pretty sure you people can do better than this..
  2. Thanks for the heads up. I picked up the Curtis Amy. Passed on Bennie Green since I have all the music on it in BN Works form, but it is highly recommended!
  3. PM: Hope Meets Foster $6
  4. These two are on hold.. Lightnin’ Hopkins Lightnin! Arhoolie 390 M/M $9 The Hopkins Brothers: Joel, Lightning and Henry Arhoolie 340 M-/M $6
  5. Minus 4 days of posts! Two posts since it's gone back up asking what happened have disappeared too. Stalin-esque is a very apt descriptor of that place. It's a big community over on SH, and some pretty knowledgeable folks post sometimes. But there's a lot of BS too. Aside from the whole Big Brother aspect, there are some really silly threads on occasion, stuff that looks like it belongs on the Onion except that people are apparently serious, e.g. long, multi-page threads with titles like "Kiss Destroyer: Weakest Link II" and stuff like that...
  6. These titles are SOLD: Lightnin’Hopkins Complete Aladdin Recordings (2CD set in fatboy case) EMI CDP-7-96843-2 VG+/M- $5 Robert Pete Williams I’m As Blue as a Man Can Be Arhoolie 394 M-/M- $8 Lightnin’ Hopkins Country Blues Tradition TCD 1003 M-/M- (hole punch through barcode) $3 Mance Lipscomb Vol. 5, Pure! 7. PM replied to, White/Williams on hold..
  8. When was it released (should be on the back, at the bottom) and is Ron McMaster listed as remastering engineer? Released 1998. Remastered by Yoshio Okazaki.
  9. PM on Tolliver ,Charles – Grand Max (Strata East/Black Lion) Hicks, Workman $10 Harris ,Barry – The Bird of Red and Gold (Xanadu) $5
  10. Thanks folks. I know its a bit of a loaded question, and I shouldn't plan on consensus but this helps!
  11. All- I'm looking for input regarding which CD versions of the Pharoah Sanders and Alice Coltrane catalogs on Impulse sound the best. A related question would be that if the Japan UCCI versions, or some other hard to find and expensive, OOP issues are best, which cheaper alternatives would you recommend? The late 90's domestic Impulse digi-packs seem pretty easy to find.. TIA!
  12. I've got mine handy Hans, if it is the same one...TOCJ-6194 "The Complete Cool Struttin Session", 6 tracks. Even though it doesn't appear to be an official BN Works issue, it has the 20-bit 88.2 khz mastering that a lot of the BN Works titles have.
  13. Thanks for that MWTGA. I have the same "Complete" version, so this was useful to read.
  14. I'll definitely be buying Soul Station and the Parlan at some point. I always like hearing comparisons with older versions such as those provided by Kevin and jazzbo, keep em coming!
  15. And if Claude can't sell you one, you could always just order it from Amazon marketplace for $5 as suggested in your other thread. I even provided a link, and suggestions for which sellers to avoid. This CD is not that hard to find. EDIT: Just saw your reply that you tried that route and had a bad (but common, I feel your pain) experience with getting sent the wrong version. Yes, that is a drawback to Amazon marketplace. No doubt about it. What I do is contact the seller, either beforehand, or just after ordering and ask them to confirm that the title they have in stock is EXACTLY as they have it listed, and tell them how to determine this, i.e. says K2 on it, etc. That is really the only way to be sure. It is sort of a PIA, and even this doesn't always work, but it usually does. And just to reiterate, don't waste your time with sellers like gohastings and wherehouse that draw from multiple big box brick and mortar stores. They are useless for getting a particular version, it is just a crapshoot with them. Good luck with your quest!
  16. Yes but not in stock, unfortunately. Maybe they were and just ran out recently?
  17. I'll chime in RE paypal. Some aspects of it annoy me, e.g. some of their fees. And I know some people have had bad experiences with it. But time is worth something too, and paypal saves me a LOT of time. I carry a balance there with my various CD and other eBay sales, and just work off of that with any purchases. I think it is a great service, highly recommended overall.. On that note, please hold the Oregon CD for me! I can send a check if need be, but would prefer to just use paypal
  18. Yes, that is what I would do. HERE is a link. The main problem with amazon marketplace is that the bigger sellers often don't take time to ensure that they have their listing in the right place. gohastings is one of the worst in this regard. I would avoid them. And no matter which seller you choose, it is worth it to contact them after you order to explain exactly which issue you want, point out that they have their CD listed as the K2, and ask for a refund if it is not that issue.
  19. Thanks for the kind thoughts folks. I'm not the primary breadwinner in the household (I'm a reformed river guide after all, barely fit for real work) and we are doing fine all things considered, especially compared to many right now. And I have some prospects- with agency cutbacks there seems to be a need for natural resource technical writers who are "cheap dates", and don't require payment of benefits other than a check. But my discretionary spending on box sets may be attenuated, at least in the near term..
  20. Big Al, I sent you a PM and an email...I'm willing to re-sell the Turrentine box at my cost plus my shipping cost to the buyer, due to change in my employment situation..
  21. Check eBay as well, prices may be better..
  22. PM sent RE Manne Blackhawk CDs...
