Tony, I appreciate your bold linguistic innovations and I am flattered for having had a chance to inpsire you, but what about Gebbia's "H Portraits"? I assume you are the only person on this thread (on this board??????) in possession of this CD, and that you haven't shared your thoughts on it with us (and all board waiting in unticipation!) is at least irresponsible.

If you haven't done so already you should pick up Johnny's Corner Song, which has been OOP for a while but is now available again through Gerry directly. Same lineup as Devil's Paradise with Robin Eubanks in place of Ray Anderson. Very much in the same vein and an excellent album. I would say Johnny's Corner Song is better than Devil's Paradise - more varied in mood and slightlz more experimental. Both are solid, if not outstanding works.
-
Nice. I'll be picking this one up.

Looks like this one is finally released:

I e-mailed Eremite and asked them whether they are planning to release anything any time soon (since it's been a year since last batch, and one of the OOP Eremite CDs was reissued on Atavistic, Ii thought the label is folding or something). Here is what I received back: ...two volumes of sunny murray recordings, mixed ensembles with mateen, oluyemi thomas, john blum, w. parker, dave burrell, others. brotzmann/bennink duo on 'bro' new bro/drake/parker trio reissues of a number of unusual recordings...... Now how about that? Hope Brötzmann/Bennink duo (unpresedental thing, correct?)is released on CD, not LP...

Loos like there is one more Maneri-Maneri-Phillips disc coming:

Enja REcords just started rertail CD sales from its website, so you can try getting them directly: http://www.enjarecords.com/artist.php?arti...48412ee5d497ea3 -
I assume this one whould have enough solo space for Wierbos: It's a solo trombone record on DATA.

Hmm, I didn't like this one too much. I like Dickey, and the bassist is good, but I have a problem with Rob Brown (not only here, but basically nearly everywhere I've heard him). Technically he is very strong, but stylistically... I feel he is comfortably stuck somewhere between 60's McLean and Dolphy, and this is not what I am interested in hearing from a modern musician... I will listen to it again. Actually, I remember there was one disc with Rob Brown that I liked - and it also features Dickey (on AUM): -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Supersilent, I've been meaning to check since you and ubu brought them up way back when - at the inception of Funny Rat. I'll check them out. And Jagga as well.
-
Me too. CRIPES UBU! Get with the program, would you! B) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thanks Hans for the information on the Brotz Hat release. ubu, you'd better standardize on 40 posts per page... don't test the limits of our tolerance -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anybody here heard Andre Jaume's "Peace / Pace / Paix" (CELP)? It's a trio with Jaume on ts and bcl, Charlie on Haden and Olivier Clerc on drums. Beautiful melancholic stuff. Jaume has a pretty unique sound (very soft) and melodic concept (...flexible - really free, meaning not particularly "out", but liberated - a bit like Lee Konitz, with endless melodies created out of nowhere). Haden plays beautifully and Clerc provides understated clever drumming (a lot of brushes). Interesting selection of compositions: a couple of Ornette's (in general, the whole disc has a bit of Ornettish feel, but more relaxed and melancholic, as I mentioned), four by Haden, two by Django Reinhart and one each by Buddy Collett and Jaume himself. Highly recommended. I got my copy from themusicresource. So should you.

Barre Phillips is not too bad a bassist either . Guy and Phillips have a duo record, don't they? - Anybody knows it by chance?
-
That's my problem with Mahall - excellent musician, but too much Dolphy...
-
Good news - Schiano is a wonderful musician (ubu, you can hear him on the Italian Instabile Festival double CD)! And bravo to Atavistic for digginig up this really obscure stuff.

LF: Carlos Ward - "Lito" (w/ Woody Shaw)
Д.Д. replied to Rooster_Ties's topic in Offering and Looking For...
It was released on CD on Leo Records, but it's long OOP. As far as I know, there are no plans to reissue it. It is actually not that good, and if you want to hear the same compositions perfomed better, get Ed Balckwell's What It Is? and What It Be Like? on Enja. -
Your GUYdance would be most welcome. Indeed!

I have realistinc expectations to begin with, so I am not too upset about the avialbility and delivery time. There is still some stuff at themusicresource that I couldn't have gotten elsewhere at such a price (or at any price). And keep in mind, that each of our unsecussful orders makes their database more accurate
-
It seems to be available at http://www.themusicresource.com Well, it's not.
-
Clean Feed, could you post information on how to order from you directly and what the prices are? Thanks.

Hey, and I see that Don Cherry's "Brown Rice" is available for €7: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000...5460409-9124811 A great work.

Well, I can't find anything good in this country! So I guess I'll have to go to France or US (even including the ticket, it might be cheaper than buying here!) to look for a good HiFi. However, the main point on my agenda now is to get a proper storage for my CDs - and I can't find anything appropriate in Switzerland - so I have to order CD racks with menuisier! Insane. Currently I have a ... hmm... "compromise" HiFi variant - Denon CD player and amplifier and Sony speakers. CDs sounds better than original music, he-he. P.L.M., I remember you talking about Hans Koch elsewhere - care to share your thoughts? Isn't the man the the dashittiest bass clarinet player today? And I am sure you have a lot of Barry Guy - so don't be shy, give us some recommendations.
-
Some of recent MPS reissues are available for under €7 at amazon.de: http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/search-ha...5460409-9124811 I can't comment on most of them, but Zoller-Koller-Solal is very nice.

He-he, Pilgrimage is not particularly good. It sucks, to use the language of our generation. The one to get is Great Wall (also with Jon Jang). It is cool, as we young people say.
