Yesterday evening I've listened to the "Liberian Suite". I got the live recording from the Carnegie Hall concert in 1947. Do you know if there is any studio recording of this suite??? Beautiful suite, btw.

I first encountered the name of this saxophone player while listening to Deep Cove, an excellent recording by Renee Rosnes. If my memory serves me correctly, his name does not appear on any of my CD's. Nothing about him on AMG and his website is under construction. In another thread discussing the music and playing of Renee Rosnes, John Tapscott mentioned Campbell Ryga is Canadian by origin. What else do you know about him? What else has he done in his life? Any other interesting recordings?

I doubt if it's possible due to the deteriorating health of Max Roach, but I would like to see him again with Sonny Rollins. Last one I can think of at the moment: Marilyn Crispell, Hamid Drake, Peter Broztman or Fred Anderson. Marilyn Crispell, Oliver Lake & Reggie Workman.

In general, nobody likes a goalless draw. But yesterday evening, I really enjoyed the all english semi final. It was a real fight. I'm wating for Tuesday second leg in Anfield. And what can I say about PSV Eindhoven??? Their forward players played like a group of impotents. They miss a player like Andriy Shevchenko who could make the difference. May is coming next week. I like May. Spring time is here, not too hot, not too humid, the flowers bloom and the young Israeli chicks look better then ever. In addition, May is the month of Finals. I am waiting specially for 2 finals: The final 4 starting next Friday in Moscow (basketball) and the Champions league final in Istanbul. Both of them will be interesting.

Any specific recommendation, John???

La Tierra del Fuego ( In Spanish: The Land of Fire) is a freat recording by Mr. Campbell. Not only campbell is great: Rahn Burton is doing a perfect job and also Zane Massey on tenor sax. Recommended. If you like Campbell, you got to listen to it. Go and get it without any second thought.

Good question BM. It takes me back to my childhood. When I was 3 or 4 years old I used to go with my parents every weekend to visit my grandparents from my mother side. I remember my late grandfather sitting most of the time on the balcony and listening to classical music on the radio.
