  1. the Urban Contours as well as the processor Spectrum gets another "thumbs up" from my side and as Mr.B I have it since it has been release 1988/89. If you like his BigBand Arrangements you should try to get the Jeton (now Bell records) Lightnin' from Klaus Weiss where Mintzer was a main Arranger for. Cheers, Tjobbe
  2. no, I have to admit where Krupinski would be sorted in there is a black hole in my collection....guess I need to change that and fill that gap. Cheers, Tjobbe
  3. Ah...Track 3 from Berlin. Good advice Mr. B.
  4. I'm just downloading the bonus tracks only not contained on the SA-CD via emusic. I'll check them out later. Cheers, Tjobbe
  5. you can currently download Greensleeves at emusic as free track... Cheers, Tjobbe
  6. I get close to Pablo Escobar...not sure what that tells me. At least I "outlived" Dan Blocker. Cheers, Tjobbe
  7. I've got Tinnitus from ear infections and every time (like now) when I have some cold where the infection is within the ear it gets worse.. unfortunately it never goes completely away afterwards. Normally I do not recognize the tone but when its silent outside (like now or in the early morning hours) its quite disturbing. Cheers, Tjobbe
  8. need to re-active that thread: right now Amazon.fr has some BMG France box sets on Christmas sale where I'm not sure if they are sonically ok based on the above postings. They do have a 7CD complete Rollins RCA/Victor as well we a 6CD Paul Desmond set that might catch my attention as I do have only one recording from both artists RCA period. As I want to get that complete Clifford Brown on Vogue set in any case, I might need some advice what remaster Versions those RCA sets might have. Any one ? Cheers, Tjobbe LINK Desmond LINK Sonny
  9. I've had the US OJC and bought the SA-CD when it came out and I personally preferred the SA-CD by far and sold the OJC...but that release was neither overly compressed nor crippled by noise reduction. Thanks anyway Claude for that link to the Hoffman forum thread. Cheers, Oliver
  10. mhh, I believe that the SA-CD version already was a major improvement to the previous OJC. Is there any indication that they "again" re-worked that record that would even make that new one sounding better ? Cheers, Tjobbe
  11. I am deeply impressed, never thought that someone will catch this one that quick ! It is one of these Klaus König discs, but it is the only one, that i possess. As there is still a lot of time and some people haven't got their packages yet, I will not unveil, which one, so they can try.... I told you Nate was an ace at these things! ahhhhh, blind and deaf It's the intro to that "Adams universe" and you can find it row seven box 3 in my CD collection... it's one of those tunes you know you've heard but you cannot link it to the album you have in your collection. Cheers, Tjobbe
  12. try to fill the gaps later I've tried not to look to previous comments (as before): track #1: Slim&Slam.... track #2: track #3: track #4: I know that the tune sounds familiar, but what it reminds me of is something I heard on film or TV ...not that I find any unique sounding instrumentalist recognizable. Track #5: Paquito d'Rivera ? Track #6:no clue...., Turkish tuned track #7: ECM...Weber would be my first guess track #8: here as well.. I should know that tune in a different interpretation Track #9: Track #10 track #11 eine kleine Nachtmusik....must be an Austrian who doesn't like to celebrate his birthday (Ups ...was the Waltzer Strauss) Track #12: Some Sting live recording ???? Track #13: sounds pretty much like Weather report..a Jaco live bootleg ? (mixed the track number somewhat) Track #14: Track#15: Track#16: Ihr Kinderlein...Süßer die Glocken nie klingen should be Mr Ilg again (have you mixed that ??? mine is skipping somewhat, maybe my player cannot properly read all data)
  13. haven't listened to it more than once but that Slim&Slam Flat foot flootie is hard to get out of your ears again....ahhhhhhhh out daemons out.... rest to follow Cheers, Tjobbe
  14. ah,, there's where the Freiburg Bass player has been hidden... Winter adé seems to be appropriate for the todays temperature
  15. Aha, the violinist has dropped his mask . But there are still credits to earn I have a suspicion on where that track #10 is from....is it track #3 from HERE ?
  16. on track #10, got some suspicion but need to check first if the violin and guitar might be overdubbed as the "unmasked" might indicate that I should know this guitar player quite well. Cheers, Tjobbe P.S. I know that Muthspiel as well played violin on selected recordings....
  17. on Track #5 knowing the Label I'm doing some wild guess now: bass player is hungarian and died recently in September ? I would guess the title is called Bop dance (which somehow might fit as well) and features Antolini/Scherer/Wilfer Cheers, Tjobbe
  18. So you say I need to check my CD's from the gone xxxxx label for that one ? oh and yes..J.J is one of my all time favourite Jazz pianist and George Riedel one of the bess swedish Jazz bass players... and the tune is title tune of that little red haired girl from Astrid Lindgren but that doesn't get me any clue who plays here
  19. indeed... but it must be hard for him to listen to the bass while playing.
  20. ok, I buy one Michael and one Gibbs from here and more http://www.toene.at/uajo/
  21. track #1 should be from this Enja one
  22. I guess I know where to look at... need to search a bit. EDIT: mhh, I cannot find Charlie Mariano playing baritone Sax with Ilg which could make that the answer to who's playing on track 4... would have been a nice try. Isn't there a new CD of that Ilg&Mariano duo out since summer ? Maybe its from there.
  23. I've tried not to look to previous comments in this initial response(promised): track #1: the bass is the base, says it all track #2: is that from one of the previous Altantic remasters... Chris Conner ? Have by accident listened to her when deciding which to buy. haven't picked this one, maybe a mistake track #3: Mr. Miller wouldn't like it, I did... guess that to be a European version of it. Maybe one of those Austrian big bands showing that lack of respect for classics track #4: a very nice one....baritone Sax and bass. Sounded a bit like an ECM with Charlie Haden Track #5: sounds like Bird...not sure who plays. track #6: This reminded me of some Pekka Pohjola record I heard in the late 70's but I believe he never played that jazzy. track #7: a singing bass line. Can that be Quartet west with Haden on bass ? like that one track #8: have this on CD since 1986 (one of my first ones, bought because I wasn't able to afford the high priced legendary Vinyls from that label) Still one of the best recorded. Oh and the Trombone and the vibes seemed to be schizophrenic, cannot decide which of the three instruments he should play..... Track #9: sounds like a GRP record somewhat ? can that be PAtitucci on Concord ? a bit so-so Track #10 great intro but the violin disturbed me a bit.... didn't work for me track #11 no clue to be honest..... Track #12: is that an Oscar with NHOP playing ? Sound wise I would have guessed that to be an MPS remaster Track #13: guilty pleasures, a bit pop'ish but sounds like the current European , the music mix as on Act label....trombone could be Landgren Track #14: abercrombie ? liked it (because of the clarinet within) Track#15, the composers are Jan Johansson/Georg Riedel (thanks for this) with that quite famous one writtin for TV/Film , but not sure who dug that out Cheers, Tjobbe
