  1. Baikida Carroll -- The Spoken Word -- (Hat Hut)
  2. Nice. My copy of "Chazz!" is on America, and of course I have the complete free jazz series on LP, released between 1970-73.
  3. Zo Ko Ma, Never Let It End, and Birds of Underground are all super. Never Let It End is probably my favorite of the bunch.
  4. Interesting, so the America label was already releasing material in 1968. Thanks.
  5. Get the LPs and save money. They aren't expensive or rare.
  6. agreed, and one (or two) that we've all heard before, multiple times.
  7. yeah, I have a few of his LPs and the unissued record he did with Surman (which is great). I'll keep an eye out for less expensive copies of those CDs on eBay.
  8. I have heard of but never owned those CDs. Will have to grab 'em! oh wait, $90 a pop on Discogs. ouch.
  9. the incident seemed more engineered to bring someone on top down a few notches. However, I do think that there is an implicit bias toward a successful black woman staying in the position she was/is in.
  10. There's no problem in searching old threads. That's absolutely fine -- better than starting 16 new threads about the same topic. The issue was using the threads to peddle things for sale, which needs to occur on the "offering and looking for" forum.
  11. Let me try to explain as clearly as possible. There is a sub-forum called "offering and looking for." You can post sale lists there. Things that you can not offer for sale include: CDRs, MP3s, dubbed DVDs, video files, etc., of bootlegged concerts/pirated material and the like. You can offer for sale commercial LPs, CDs, cassettes, VHS/DVD/Beta, books, and the like, but only in the "offering and looking for" section. no trades. thanks.
  12. really love Joos' early recordings, especially with MJQK and Fourmenonly. His cover art designs are indeed something else.
  13. I meant Monday Morning instead of Mad Rockers... MM is nutty. have that same Russell edition, classic LP.
  14. gosh, surprised this hasn't sold.
  15. Bummer! His 1970s sextet was really something. Very sorry to hear this.
  16. Transfiguration, Solarius, Mad Rockers, Going to the Rainbow, Devil in Paradise, parts of The Day After... the records get a little more jazz-rock-esque as they go along but he's inimitable and brings a weighty concept to the proceedings.
  17. Jack Sels -- Minor Works -- (sdban, BE) superb 2LP compilation of Sels' work, just came out.
  18. yeah, you don't want any chance of off-gassing (although I'm not sure which plastics would create film on the acetone). Standard paper sleeve is fine.
  19. heard about this from Nate, gonna be really good I think.
  20. They are designed for 2-3 plays only. It's just a thin layer of lacquer over an aluminum core, which is easily chipped and can flake off due to improper handling.
  21. Probably Coltrane.
  22. I've never seen any footage of him playing, but would love to see some!
  23. Nice score, chewy. Try to record it somehow as acetates can't stand many plays before wearing out, even with a modern stylus. Now: Miles -- Get Up With It -- (Columbia, US)
