  1. (ECM German pressing)
  2. 50 is the new 25 !
  3. Never seen one on vinyl - although I do have a nice Toshiba CD of it.
  4. Really enjoyed reading the article again - and sorry to hear that he has passed.
  5. That DMM Hank 'Far Away Lands' was one of the best things that ever came out in the 1980s ! Hot on the heels of 'Straight No Filter' (not sure which came first).
  6. Snake oil it may be - but I put Naim Powerline power cords on both the pre-amp power supply and power amp some years ago and there was a very definite and noticeable improvement. Porcy mentioned a 'more open' in one of his posts and that pretty well sums up what this change brought, along with a faster responsiveness to transient surges. The next logical stage would be to put a separate earth spur in the house for the audio. I have resisted that option so far, although I would anticipate significant reductions in the noise floor as a result. Admittedly though, the effect of the milking machine down the road at certain times of day might mess that plan up.
  7. I'll wait for the CDs ! Too many posers and Billy Bragg cluttering up the record stores round here yesterday..
  8. Lots of purchases of that (very fine) title from members of this site alone.. Picked up Tubby Hayes 'Without A Song' (Acrobat 3CD) yesterday. A revelatory - and essential - Tubby Hayes issue that will be a great accompaniment to Simon Spillet's biography, when it arrives in my mailbox.
  9. Have a great one Erik !
  10. BAE Samlesbury has this Lightning as a gate guardian. Guaranteed back in the 1960s and 70s to rattle windows and teapots throughout the country as they intercepted those nasty Ruskie Bears..
  11. Yes, all the very best regards from me too, Erik. I took a load of photos at Chino and thinking about it I'm pretty sure I have a photo of the Stearman. In fact, that day they had Qty 6 B-25 Liberators flying . I was stunned at the variety of vintage aircraft over there - there were more Hawker Sea Furys and Spitfires than I've ever seen in the UK, astonishingly. All kept in wonderful confition too. Debating whether or not to head up to the RAF Fairford Air Tattoo in a few months time. That show usually has the best air and static displays of any of the annual shows in the UK.
  12. Horace Parlan 'On The Spur Of The Moment' (BN NY USA, mono)
  13. We're not worthy... Happy Birthday !
  14. I think I saw that maritime Liberator at Chino back in the 1990s, Aggie. The Stearman livery looks familiar as well. Confederate Air Force?
  15. Donald Byrd/Johnny Coles 'Childs Play' (International Polydor) aka Duke Pearson 'Hush'
  16. Bobby Hutcherson 'Inner Glow' (BN King)
  17. I agree - recently picked up a copy of this one very cheaply before it starts to get scarce. Makes a very good accompaniment to the Horace Tapscott bio. Great find with the 'Before Dawn' Patrick - that one is a gem.
  18. Great weather here in Southern UK this week and the temperatures will be cranking up the next few days. Saharan sand has also been blown in, as per usual at this time of year.
  19. It will be very good. I have been enjoying some of the individual Italian Blue Note CDs over recent weeks by the Quintet and they are consistently strong. Think Miles 'Sorcerer' period with an Italianate finish. They weren't very easy to find over here and just as I had found most of them second hand Universal put them out for cheap in a box, damn them. Sonics on these CDs are excellent too.
  20. Bobby Hutcherson 'Total Eclipse' (BN Liberty blue/white, stereo)
  21. Has its plus points ! Visiting Moreton-in-the-Marsh for the first time in a long while, it was refreshing to find a high street which was not dominated by the likes of KFC, Subway Greggs, Poundland, Lidl etc etc. The folks there take a real care as to how the place looks and is presented to visitors. A real pleasure - and I can remember it being that way too nearly 40 years ago but perhaps a bit posher these days. Long may it stay that way. Admittedly though, they make you pay 20p to use the High Street conveniences. Used to be free Light years away from Swindon and Gloucester - yuck.
  22. I was up in the Cotswolds yesterday and I have to say, from Malmesbury on up it was not unlike the views in your photos Bev. Absolutely glorious !
  23. Eddie Henderson 'Anthology' (Soul Brother 2LP)
