Yeah, a good one. Amazingly, my ‘local’ had this new Classic Series in stock this afternoon. Not a mark on it and the sound is very good, certainly trounces my old ‘Collectors Choice’ CD of this title. Punchier and much clearer. A happy camper !

Took me years to get a vinyl copy of that one on UK Verve. Kept both !

Yeah, that Shorter was a scarce one too. Another one I had to pick up from the States.

It was pretty elusive when it came out - the whole series was in limited quantities. I don’t think I ever saw a copy of the 3CD here in the UK and picked mine up during a visit to the States back then. The other very elusive one I recall in that Verve Elite series is the Lalo Schifrin.

what a lineup ! The US guest input apparently coordinated by Clark Terry and separately recorded for mixing in. Works very well.

The time to get worried is probably when you become a ‘black hole’ or ‘red dwarf’ !

Yeah, she is very much missed on the scene over here - having said that, I was never fortunate enough to see her live. I recommend her ‘Live at the BBC’ CD box set. Whenever I come across one of her LPs in the racks, it is often signed. Says a lot about her good natured personality, I think.

From my experience, their regular email does confirm new Mosaics in stock when they get them into their stores. I’ve gone the ‘direct’ route with this set, after a number of orders from JM. Sadly, they don’t offer free shipping above a certain amount any more.

There are a couple of copies on discogs - not cheap though. On the other hand, I’ve never ever seen a ‘cheap’ copy and never come across it in physical shops. Stonehenge site looking great this week and current conditions this year are the best time to see it, as mentioned by a staff member I spoke with. Admittedly though these days you can’t play cricket using one of the stones as a wicket, as I did as a lad..🤔

Got my ‘processing’ message some days ago but yet to hear anything about ‘shipping’. Should I contact them?

Thinking about it again, it would be pretty hard to top ‘Un Poco Loco’ for lead track impact, on ‘The Amazing Bud Powell Vol 1’.

I’ve got quite a few Coltrane Impulses on that imprint. They must have had the European rights in the late 70s and 80s. They came right after those UK Anchor Records reissues from the mid 1970s, again have quite a few of those too. The Jasmine sleeves are flimsy and vinyl lightweight but can sound OK. Anchor Records actually came with US Impulse gatefolds of that era. Jasmine also reissued a fair bit of British Jazz recorded by Tempo, both on LP and CD. Again, they can sound good.
