  1. Good ! A friendly relationship and set sale (even if prices are high) that's what we expect from a site. If you know some, would you share them with us ? Ron Rambach and Jeff Barr are working on it. I'll let you know as soon as they are on-line.
  2. In italians cities like Rome, Milan and Florence, houses' prices has more then triplicated in the last six/seven years. My explanation is that after 9/11, stocks market wasn't a safe investments for a lot of people, included speculators, so they putted the money in estates. Now the stocks market is growing and there are good forecast and the houses' prices has a stop in the last year. The other face of the coin is that, because of this boom, a lot of people has empty houses to rent. Rent's prices are collapsing.
  3. Actually, it's not by chance that some of the record's best dealers are managing to built their own websites off eBay.
  4. I told you HD LCD and Plasma are craps. Better CRT. http://www.nytimes.com/2007/01/22/business...amp;oref=slogin
  5. I am with Woody Allen on this: I can't listen to that much Wagner, ya know? I start to get the urge to conquer Poland.
  6. Since I am not in US, I have no idea of the prices, so check it out before, but my suggestion would be for Triangle (french) and Dynaudio (Danish), I listened to them a lot, my sister got a pair of Triangle, and I used to have a Dynaudio at work as studio monitors. Though I probably listen to some more expensive products of the above brands.
  7. Anyway I presume that there aren't so many quad releases out there. How many years lasted quad systems? Just had a look at wikipedia: 'quadraphonic', oddly stuff Here's alink to quad discography http://members.cox.net/surround/quaddisc/quadindx.htm
  8. Some quad LPs had very different content. For example, Jefferson Airplane's "Volunteers" had different takes for several songs used on the quad version, which were so different from the ones used on the stereo version that it sounds like a different album. But I presume you should have a quad stylus in order to appreciate the full thing. Please say: YES. Otherwise I will start to spend money even on quad LPs.
  9. Usually it is, but sometimes you're loosing the 'nuaces' of the stereo mix, and the soundstage is definitely bigger.
  10. Never thought that someone could produce quad styli in these days. I am not a completist, so usually I go for mono with pre 1966/7 records and for stereo with the later. I am too lazy to compare mono and stereo mix. I have both mix of some records, and I buy a different mix if the one I have is not a mint copy or if I am not satisfied with the sound. Often the problem is that the recording or the sound engineer at mixer were bad. So the results is that often I have a mono and a stereo mix and they both suck!
  11. Never known why should one search for a quad Lp, when he can have a stereo or a mono pressing. I presume that, since quad gears didn't exist anymore, the best sound comes from a stereo or a mono mix. The only thing that comes to mind is that you're a completist. My original US pressing sounds gorgeous. No offense. I am just curious. BTW wich is the difference between a stereo and quad pressing?
  12. oops...
  13. I have some of them, and they were hugely cheaper compared to yellow label. I don't remember the sound. I am sure Chuck will know where they were pressed and how is the vinyl quality.
  14. Gabor Szabo JAZZ RAGA Impulse! mono. I love this bizarre pastiche, and the cover with Gabor playing sitar on the Vespa remind me Peter Sellers's Hollywood Party, Great! Sorry, I read on liner notes that's a Lambretta, not a Vespa, very mod! And if Quentin Tarantino will listen to it, I am sure they will use some of the tracks in the next movie. I must have all his Impulse! output. I want them!
  15. Grant Green GREEN IS BEAUTIFUL, BN liberty. Maybe Green is beautiful, but I couldn't say the same for his version of 'A Day In A Life' ARGHHH!
  16. I missed this one several times, ebay, private auctions, ecc.. Do you think I have to give it another chance? Yes. It is heavy. Do you mean it in the same way as LIFE TIME?
  17. Lou Reed BERLIN, RCA US pressing. I love the man, like Van Morrison, I couldn't explain the exact reason, but I do.
  18. Miles Davis COLLECTOR'S ITEMS, Prestige 50th pressing.
  19. I missed this one several times, ebay, private auctions, ecc.. Do you think I have to give it another chance?
  20. With the postcards ? "Don't want to talk/ About Jesus/ Just wanna see his face" Exile on main street : of the greatest r'n'r album ever. period All the postcards are there, and the sound is gorgeous, a mint copy. I have also an original japanese pressing, with postcards, but I prefer the US sound, more punch, more bass, in one word more R'N'R.
  21. Rolling Stones EXILE ON MAIN STREET, original US pressing.
  22. I had the same problem with Bix's set, I just emailed them and they sent me a replacement cd for free. Great customer service.
  23. Not really cd-like, but if you want the 'punch' of the originals... Originals often has a lot of 'punch', I would say 'unnatural' sometimes. In some case I prefer the Mosaic pressings. No experience with japanese pressings, not BN at least. I have some japanese pressings of classic rock, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones, ecc.., usually I find them a little 'thin' in term of sound compared to original Uk, even compared to later reissues. No objections about japanese vinyl quality, always superb, the same level of the ECM vinyl.
  24. Thelonious Monk GENIUS OF MODERN MUSIC 1 , BN, Lexington pressing
