Yes, tough I am vinyl guy, in this "death of cd" era there is a lot of good stuff at bargain price. I started to by cds again after ages. I mean 11 cds for 25 euros!

In my view I consider a performance/recording a reference when it conveys some new and interesting aspects of the work, sometimes trough the performance I get a new view of the work, something I never tought before. When someone stress the playful aspects of Beethoven, I realize that it might be funny, so performance is some sort of everlasting discover.

Maybe it has to do with some general consensus, beyond personal opinion

The MM 45rpm's are definitely the best sounding BNs out there, but they are pricey and flipping the record after 12 minutes could be an hassle. The japanese pressings come as good second (Kings a little better then Toshiba) tough if your sistem leans towards smooth sound they could be a bit syrupy. The purpose of Mosaics were to reissue once out of print stuff and gather sessions togheter, so if you're interested in it they are a good choice, the sound quality is always good. Classic Records, now defuct, reissued some BN, lively sound, with mixed results on some title. IMHO obviously.

I definitely want a copy.

I second Paul. Usually Speakers Corner records are among the best, if not the best ones, reissues I have, unless one go for more expensive 45 rpm stuff. Super quiet vinyl, detailed and balanced sound, not harsh nor dull.
