  6. I wonder what the gas mileage is for these?
  7. How safe can something this small be while driving? If you get hot by one large SUV, you might as well be buried in it. I've seen them while in Europe this past summer and wonder are they very popular in Europe? Brandnew two-seated cars 'Smart' made by Mercedes and Swatch are parked in the car factory of Sarreguemines, region of Lothringen, France. They might measure a mere 2.5 meters (eight feet) in length and only be capable of carrying two passengers, but tiny Smart cars are aiming to make it big in the United States, where hulking gas-guzzlers have long been the kings of the road.(AFP/File/Werner Baum )
  8. Lou Donaldson will be playing the Village Vanguard at the end of the month. He is reunited with Dr. Lonnie Smith. If you're in NYC, you have to check them out. I was wondering why for the past 3 or 4 years Lou and Lonnie stopped playing together. Anyone have any information on this?
  9. Anyone have this Red Garland Lou Donaldson session? If so, where did you find it? I have searched high and low but no luck.
  10. Has anyone downloaded any of these? http://www.mosaicrecords.com/podcasts.asp.
  11. My two favorites are 2 and 3. on yahoo Most ridiculous British law: 1. It is illegal to die in the Houses of Parliament (27 percent) 2. It is an act of treason to place a postage stamp bearing the British monarch upside-down (seven percent) 3. In Liverpool, it is illegal for a woman to be topless except as a clerk in a tropical fish store (six percent) 4. Mince pies cannot be eaten on Christmas Day (five percent) 5. In Scotland, if someone knocks on your door and requires the use of your toilet, you must let them enter (four percent) 6. A pregnant woman can legally relieve herself anywhere she wants, including in a policeman's helmet (four percent) 7. The head of any dead whale found on the British coast automatically becomes the property of the king, and the tail of the queen (3.5 percent) 8. It is illegal to avoid telling the tax man anything you do not want him to know, but legal not to tell him information you do not mind him knowing (three percent) 9. It is illegal to enter the Houses of Parliament in a suit of armour (three percent) 10. In the city of York it is legal to murder a Scotsman within the ancient city walls, but only if he is carrying a bow and arrow (two percent)
  12. Add Lee Konitz, Kenny Garrett and one other whom I can't think of right now.
  13. I will go and see him. At 81 and he doesn't come to America much anymore, so I better do it now.
  14. One of the true giants is here in NY to play the Blue Note. Does he still have anything left? I thought of going. Johnny Griffin is one of my all time favorite jazz musicians. Anyone planning to attend one of the sets?
  15. Broom was fine on guitar.
  16. Here is someting upsetting for the cocert. When I arrived Carnegie Hall had just one window open to get your ticket from. I saw it with my own eyes. "Thank all of you for attending our 50th Anniversary event. At the end of our concert at Carnegie Hall last night, it came to our attention that a significant number of ticket-buyers were forced to wait for such a long time in order to pick up their tickets at will-call that they missed most of the trio half of our concert. This was very upsetting to me personally because my staff & I had worked very hard to make sure that every detail of the evening was of the highest quality & a satisfying experience for the people who supported our efforts by buying tickets. As part of our agreement with Carnegie Hall, everything related to ticket sales was to be handled by the Carnegie box office. Obviously something went very wrong, and we are anxious not only to discover exactly what happened and why, but also how the ticket-buyers who missed the trio segment will be compensated. In the meantime, please accept my personal apologies. Sonny Rollins"
  17. It was great show last night. Long live Sonny!

  19. Thanks for the music Joe. I am playing "Black Market" right now.
  20. Long live the king!
  21. In a recent interview in "Hot House", Sony Rollins mentions 3 newly discovered, trio recordings from Carnegie Hall, 1957, tucked away in the valuts of the library of congress. He plans on releasing them soon on his label. Anyone have more info on this? Was this talked about on here before? Also, what other gems might be in the vaults of the library of congress waiting to be unearthed?
  22. The man with the great voice has just died at 71.
  23. Hum, do I go and get this, or keep my 80 gig and wait for the 1 TB iPod? It retails for $349.00. Anyone going to run out and buy it?
  24. Can someone tell me video and audio formats a Sony PSP supports? I've tried to upload a MPEG4, but it doesn't like it. MP3's seem to work. Any other audio formats?
