  1. Yes, that was the film. I couldn't remember the title.
  2. I once remember seeing in a thread here a film with Dexter from the early 1960's done in Sweden. Anyone recall the title of that film?
  3. This seems to be the new thing these days. It would great to see a podcast uploaded to this forum so I could watch the band. Just a thought.
  4. Barry Harris Harrison Ford Ford Pinto.
  5. Thanks. Nice shots. I only wish Freeman would play more outside of Chicago.
  6. Damn! I bought both copies in March 2nd and they were $9.99. They've dropped the price. I have my receipt from iTunes. I wonder if they will credit my account if I bitch enough.
  7. Thanks.

  10. Mike, the 27th is my wedding anniversity. My wife asked what I wanted to do. I might be sitting in the front table. If I do make it, I'll say hello. Good to see you're back at the Vanguard. Hope there will be many more to come.
  11. Has anyone else come across these 2 records? I just bought them on iTunes. Both albums are smokin'. They are Bopland records.
  12. I have a real bad copy of them playing. But never the less it is Parker and Hill in Chicago. I saw him live over the summer of 2006 and he was saying the cancer treatment was getting to him. He was thin as a blade of grass. I do hope he gets better. I know it is terminal lung cancer, but you never can say there's no hope.
  13. Listening to his "Billie's Bounce" CD right now. The Homecoming will be next.
  14. Time to spin some of his music today. Dexter is one the greats! I will always dig his music. Happy Birthday Dexter AKA LTD.

  16. … when audio cassettes were the new wave in audio. I’m talking about the ones put out by the record companies and not the ones we make ourselves. Shit, I even have some jazz CD’s on cassettes. I just broke down and bought “Homecoming, Live at the Village Vanguard:” by Dexter Gordon on CD. Anyone else still harboring any cassettes put out by record companies? I think Columbia put out the most jazz cassettes in the 1970 and early 80. I have one Woody Shaw that I haven’t upgraded yet. That one will be the next.
  17. I was stupid. That's all I could say. It was also a lefthanded mode which makes it more rare. Don't ask what I sold it for.

  21. I played the es-165 for about 12 years. When I got it, I hated it. The sound sucked. The fretboard didn't feel nice. I had a guitar repairman do work on the fretboard. I didn't have much of a choice being left-handed, so I went with that model. It's the only left-handed Gibson makes. Once I got the guitar back, it sang. Real nice sound from that point on. I've sold it 3 years back. It was sunburst color. Still, my first love was my Charlie Christian model. Crica 1940. It was the one with the 3 screws on the body. I was a dope and sold that to by the es-165.

  25. Okay, what would be a nice session of his to start with? The only one I really know well is "Mance's Special". Any others worth listening to?
