The Tonight from Steve Allen, Jack Paar to Jay Leno.
Hardbopjazz replied to Hardbopjazz's topic in Miscellaneous Music
Don't know about the film footage, but I do have the music. -
From the very beginning of the Tonight show back in New York in 1954, there have been a number of jazz artists who have appeared on the program. Here are some that I know of. Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers featuring Horace Silver and Hank Mobley. Oscar Perterson has been on the show. Buddy Rich has been on the show. Pre crossover George Benson, and most likely the crossover version too. Anyone else come to mine that you can think of?

I am trying to transfer some LPs to my PC and then burn them to CDRs. Where should I be plugging the input on my sound card? I’ve done this procedure a 100 times in the past but I can’t get it to work tonight. My sound card has three places to plug into. One I know is for the speakers, so that is out. The second is for a microphone, so that only leaves the third, which is where I though it should go, but it doesn’t yield and sound. I tried then to use the one for the microphone but the sound is all distorted. The only difference from the last time I did this is, I am on a new PC.

"can't we all just get along" You may want to send member andybleaden a message. He is the "Big" John Patton expert on this board.

Could it be that that member deleted the message sent to you? I think that is the only way it could happen.

Was that the show at Town Hall in NYC? I know all those guys did a show together in NYC in 2000. I have some fairly recent photos of Andrew from one of his last gigs he did in NYC. I'll to post some of them.

Wow, I am in a loss for words right now. A great loss to the music world. I will be seeding some hill on dime to remember him. Thank Andrew for all the great music through the years. RIP.

I guess Brother Thelonious would have to counter Satan beer.
-
I've tried this beer. It is called satan beer. I must say, it does taste like hell. My brother brought it over and we opened two bottles. We couldn't even drink half of the bottle, that's how bad it was. What was strange, the bottles had corks. http://www.satanbeer.com/

Yes, that was the film. I couldn't remember the title.

I once remember seeing in a thread here a film with Dexter from the early 1960's done in Sweden. Anyone recall the title of that film?

Thanks. Nice shots. I only wish Freeman would play more outside of Chicago.

Michael Weiss Quintet Returns to Village Vanguard
Hardbopjazz replied to Michael Weiss's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
Mike, the 27th is my wedding anniversity. My wife asked what I wanted to do. I might be sitting in the front table. If I do make it, I'll say hello. Good to see you're back at the Vanguard. Hope there will be many more to come. -
Upcoming Andrew Hill live album for BN
Hardbopjazz replied to Guy Berger's topic in Live Shows & Festivals
I have a real bad copy of them playing. But never the less it is Parker and Hill in Chicago. I saw him live over the summer of 2006 and he was saying the cancer treatment was getting to him. He was thin as a blade of grass. I do hope he gets better. I know it is terminal lung cancer, but you never can say there's no hope.
