  1. I guess Lion and Wolff took the reason to the grave.
  2. I can't buy that.
  3. How come Yoko isn't on the list? She did scream and talk on Revolution #9. This has to make her a Beatle.
  4. There has to be a real reason why it was passed. I don't think they were sloppy. BN ran a tight ship, down to every detail.
  5. Anyone know why 1553 calatog number was not used by Blue Note? I have always wondered why this number was skipped over. 1552 was a Jimmy Smith session and 1554 was a Art Blakey session. What happened to 1553?
  6. I couldn't waith for a Mosaic Select. I went out and ordered the TOCJ's.
  7. What exists of Dizz Bird and Sarah Vaughan together. I have an old tape of these three from a radio broadcast. Don't know anything about it other then the set list. Would anyone know the date of this, or any other infomation. Here the tunes I have. I believe I am missing some. 8. Do you think the guitar has the respectability in jazz as other instruments? For many years it didn't play a prominent role. Has it caught with the tenor sax or trumpet as a jazz instrument? I think it has. I feel the guitar from the early 60's and back was overlooked in jazz. It took very innovative musicians to give it respectability to the rest of the jazz community (musicians).
  9. Looks like we were down a bit.
  10. Thanks, I'll have to find this one.
  11. True, Boarders by me has Yanni in the jazz session.

  13. The RVG version came out on July 13th. It has 5 bonus tracks. Are those bonus track previously unreleased or stuff that is already out there? I have the original release of Home Cooking, but don't have it in from t of me to see if any of these 5 tracks are on it.
  14. I live for most of my life a few minutes from Manhattan. Now I am a good 45 minutes from Manhattan. Both have their plus and minuses I like the peace and quiet of the small town life. But you won’t find much jazz or and nightlife there.
  15. Wondering if any of the musicians here record themselves when gigging?
  16. This should be a great show. Have to make a least one set. Anyone else planning to go see them?

    Overlooked

I was listening to his 2 BN dates and theIllinois Jacquet Mosaic, and Parker could play the Baritone Sax as well as anyone I've heard play that instrument. Outside of the Jacquet sides and his 2 BN's, where else can I hear him? AMG, only lists his 2 BN sessions.
  18. Yeah, there's only 3 members on right now.
  19. Art Blakey's Holiday for Skins. Anyone know where I could find this?
  20. I was reading the Offering and Looking For... and saw someone searching for a number of BN titles. Max Roach/Kenny Dorham Quintet - New Sounds (12/22/47, 4/30/49, 5/15/49), has this ever been issued on CD? I realized might be one I would lie to get a hold ofif I could find it. Any insight would be nice.
  21. Get it, I can make you a copy of the booklet if you like.
  22. Coupon Code: JULYFUN
  23. Tuesday July 20th.
  24. It's only in Japanese, but there must be hundreds of photos. Thinking of grabing it. Just wondering if anyone on this board has seen it, and what they think of it.
  25. If it could be a live session, I would say Trane and Wes. I would have love to see and heard them together. Otherwise, Bird and Diz in their first recording session.
