  1. um, Ill pass. But I am intrigued by `box sets-the patient will be rewarded, hint,....´which I guess is an allusion to the aborted 10 cd 72 run, which some of us preordered awhile back.
  2. I ordered the Keepnews version of Monk at the Town Hall at my favourite bricks and morter- they had difficulty finding it on the computer, but found it eventually as released in february 2007 (?), a bit early I thought but, well anything is possible from Concord, so imagine my delight when the old OJC turned up!
  3. Picked up mine from the brick and morter, Folk and Rock in Helsingborg yesterday, and it had been waiting for me for a few days, 699 sek, less 15% discount!- Am I the first European here to get it? if so I claim my coconut!
  4. And Dumpy- some of us are still dicking around Sweden!
  5. When I used to buy vinyl, I always asked for them to be double boxed, though even that did not always foil the Frisbee throwing teams of the Swedish Post Office or Customs . Once one wag had completed the admonition- Records-do not bend-with the words-Oh yes they do!
  6. Kenny, I was about to mention Craig Fuller and the first 2 Pure Prarie League albums, but did not wish to be responsible for thead drift! But they are without a doubt my favourite country rock albums. I only just found out that the admirable label Evangeline has them on a twofer-my order is awaited! My dispointment when Two Lane highway eventually appeared was akin to that engendered by the Deads Mars Hotel.the end of a love affair, but that first album -Whew! I first heard it while shopping for cowboy shirts in Portobello Road, and in those dys it was a big deal to advance order a US import, but you can be sure I was all over Bustin Out when in arrived in the UK:
  7. I came to this party a bit late, but I want my opinion to be on record-I agree that the third Burritos album is their best- if only for the majestic White Line Fever. Rick Roberts never came within a country mile of improving upon this song, I also think that Gram Parsons is way overated and a marginal figure at best. However, I do not think that Gene Clark is overated- 3 great albums at the very least , No Other ndeed, and Tim Buckley is da bomb, even after all these years.
  8. Sidewinder, I used to work above the Oasis swimming pool on the corner.in the employment of Camden Council. In the early 70s I could watch all the little hippie chickadees who were performing the musical Hair at the Shaftesbury theatre sunbathing nude on the roof! a bit later I was on the doorstep of the Roxy when, ahum, punk first emerged form the deep! And the louche Soho was a mere stones throw away. At that time tho, I was more interested in the stall Rock On in Soho market, and later of course Camden Town..... Yes, Rays was still Colletts back them. memories, memories...
  9. well my memories of Bickershaw are also sketchy but as I recall I think it was the longest Dead set I ever saw... The Hollywood set in Newcastle under Lyme was the mother of all Dead sets tho!
  10. Sidewinder. that was Honest Jons, Shaftesbury Avenue or thereabouts- about opposite to where Rays later opened, though I also was known to infest the Camden Town branch! This is before Covent Garden began to move uppmarket.
  11. Sidewinder, my vinyl copy of Disco, bought at Honest Jons in 1980/81, had the cover you described, as did several other Ra albums of the same vintage!
  12. Good morning Lon, thanks for sharing this, I send my warmest wishes for you both, wifey went through some of this a few years back, were both fine today, but I remember what it was like;keep on keepin on!
  13. Sad news, there goes another giant....
  14. My first copy of Country Joe and the Fish Fixin to die album was on Fontana. But no board game! Or is that a tangent too far?
  15. Well that doesnt seem to apply to you 3! I mean 2 is company and three is a crowd...
  16. Forever Changes is amazing. When you compare it to the first two records there's a hyper-space leap forward in songwriting sophistication and arrangements. "Andmoreagain" is just gorgeous. I was lucky to see Albert a few years back when he was performing the "Forever Changes" album in its entirety. He was in pretty good form the night I saw him and his back up band(Baby Lemonade?) were top notch. Outside of their first album, MG never did anything for me .
  17. First batch of 3 now up for preorder.
  18. Oh no! way too early, seriously sad news...
  19. O.K. Not the first time.
  20. The very excellnet Spotlight Invitations was recently issued by Toshiba in Japan. Perhaps that bodes well for a select? Or am I way off?
  21. Hes had a high profile in Sweden the last couple of years, and I have tickets for his show here in Helsingborg in the autumn, hope he pulls through.
  22. A good friend of mine was at the Dream Letter concert... Me, I only got to see Tim once ,on a one day show at Nebworth, together with the Allman Brothers, Mahavishnu Orchestra and the ,less exalted. Doobie Brothers.
  23. The start of Buzzin Fly when everything just drops into place....just magic.
  24. Thanks fellas. I still have original mint vinyl of both albums, tho I packed away my record player a long while ago. i agree about the European Elektra twofers, a great series- also pick up the peerless Paul Siebel albums while you are at it Felser- and yes, I may well have to go the Morning Glory route, but I still have my fingers crossed, or as we say in Sweden, I am holding my thumbs.....
  25. Just discovered that both of these have been out on cd on Rhino- I thought they were still missing in action- anybody have copies that they could do without?Amazon seem to have them at about 100 bucks apiece, but I am not going the scalper route. Pretty please?
