  1. Forgot this one...that makes 6!Hadn't come across ZU before this, and was initially disappointed at not seeing more tracks by the Spaceways trio only, but yes play loud! The tracks with the double trio did leave me wishing for a few more tracks, but hell it's nice to have a shortish CD these days. Would be interesting to hear them without KV-anybody done so?
  2. Let's go play the music...
  3. Thanks J.A.W.,it's on the list!
  4. Just wondering if I should add this to the "to get" list.Thought last year's live trio set was a treat, and the addition of Malaby to the line-up is enticing.Do the "2" play on all cuts?
  5. Great service, got those lovely Andrew Hill sets on East Wind from him last year.Must get back in touch and see if he can get hold of those ECM's never issued on CD in the west.
  6. Not one for labels...it's all a fusion! But if what the questioner means is that particular path(rut?)typified by GRP etc. then watch out...Chick Corea's reformed The Electrik Band.
  7. Have only played them through the once so far...but early indications would say yes, both bands have "grown" since their last releases. It's been 4 years since the first Tripleplay set so they've all come on a bit since then. The FME's a studio set,4 episodic pieces and more focussed than the live debut.Having PNL behind the kit makes this my preferred trio, always throwing up surprises.Best thing is try and sample some tracks before taking the plunge. Must say I enjoyed Furnace, but then I love that Giuffre 3 soundworld, hope they get together again sometime.
  8. Do Leo Smith and Roy Campbell count as underrated ?I think so. Arve Henriksen too.
  9. Although they've been flagged up in other threads,KV fans with deep pockets(real or imaginary)won't be disappointed with new studio sets from Tripleplay and FME,Gambit and Underground respectively.I make it 5 new KV releases in the last month or so with the Freefall set and the Atomic/School Days double.Reminds me of the days when David Murray(another similarly "controversial" player)used to lay siege to my bank account with all those DIW's coming out in batches of 3.
  10. Looking forward to Kevin Mackenzie's "Another New Horizon" which hopefully will arrive today-I've a lot of time for the label...when's Phil Bancroft's new one out?
  11. Not exactly new but taken until now to track down a supplier. If you enjoyed Feet Music and the recent summit meeting with School Days check this out.Just about my fave band coming out of Europe at the moment.P.N.L. continues to astound.Must catch these guys live and must give the disc another play...now! P.S.Got this from Caiman in Florida if anyone's having trouble, and KV says they'll be having discs with them when they tour this month in the US with the V5.
  12. Haven't heard a "new" Cure since The Top and like a few others don't particularly want too but recall having a lot of time for Faith and Pornography. Saw them a couple of times live in the 80's and won't forget a Glastonbury gig in 87,thunder,lightning followed by a full moon.Quite a spectacle, could probably have passed on the acid!!!
  13. A break here:Wales, that's in the UK if you want to run down Budgie too!
  14. Sorry it's a Welsh thing...
  15. Some nice objectivity there for a change, hear hear.Threads like these are all about nostalgia most of the time-I'd no sooner buy Rush's latest album than bin my Mosaics. When I was 11,frankly most of that list of alternatives weren't in my universe, apart from the Spinners(and they were a Christian vocal quartet-maybe quintet-who dressed in Star Trek suits, why we over here had to add The Detroit bit).Got there eventually with most of them....The Pistons?Twin-Tone??? Steps along the way........
  16. It's just come to me...on the first album Rush were a poor man's Budgie!!!!
  17. Not yet,but looking forward to it.Loved the last one,Peace Pipe.
  18. ...for later,as for now Himalayan Green Chai
  19. Be prepared, once his autobiography's out he's about to become"the greatest writer of the 20th century"-someone should tell him we're in the 21st now...
  20. Some big trees there.......
  21. You calling them muppets...bloody well right Great use of In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida in Michael Mann's Manhunter
  22. ...just found out the author is a knickerfetishist........well......I suppose there's worse things to be into
  23. Iron Butterfly were the poor man's Led Zeppelin...hey may be these two started the rich and poor man thing with their variation on metal and things that fly
  24. Styx...who were they poor to?plenty of choice
  25. :D I've thought about it...Speedwagon were the poor man's Journey(but nice to hear some good Brit bands being perceived as "rich").Has there been a Journey thread?(he says in all innocence) Rush have one more tune then they're outta here......now where's that laser etched Styx record?
