  3. Dalziel & Pascoe - Season 2 Warren Clarke plays a great Andy Dalziel - just as I imagined that character from reading the novels.
  4. Skip James: Today!
  5. A very wonderful drummer. I first heard him on record with the Sonny Rollins band (w. Don Cherry), one of the first jazz records I bought. The only time I caught him live he was sitting in the café at Bloomingdales in Manhattan listening to a Jane Ira Bloom quartet with Billy Hart on drums. Mr. Higgins was smiling.

  7. Bill Coleman - Ben Webster: Swingin' in London (Black Lion)
  8. "Doing my best to avoid home chores on this sunny afternoon." Listening to music is always preferable to doing chores. I keep trying to convince my wife of that philosophy.
  9. Detectorists - Series 2
  10. Hampton Hawes: Bird Song Surprising that this went unreleased for so long when some lesser Hampton Hawes recordings (at least imo) were released over the years.
  11. http://media.rhino.com/press-release/otis-reddings-dock-bay-sessions-available-may-18-rhino File this one under - Let's See If We Can Sell This to You Once Again. "Although the individual tracks have been previously released across a smattering of posthumous albums and compilations, this marks the first time they have been assembled to resemble what this album could possibly have been." Really? "could have possibly been" - what does that mean? Absolutely nothing to me. I see no mention of Steve Cropper, who was very involved in the recording of "Dock of the Bay" and put together the single release after Otis' death. And what possible worthwhile involvement could Roger Armstrong, who I imagine was living in England in late 1967, have with the recordings? And isn't it possible that Otis Redding might have recorded other material for an album if he hadn't died in that plane crash? Perhaps I'm cynical, but this reeks to me of the music biz trying to cash in once again.

  21. I'll drop out of this discussion. I love and respect Buell Neidlinger's music and this should be about him, so I'll let it go at that.
