Under new CBA, smokeless tobacco will be banned for incoming players. Going forward, smokeless tobacco will be banned in baseball, but players who have already spent at least one day in the big leagues will be grandfathered out. So the ban is targeted for future big league players. It will be interesting to see how some minor leaguers adjust to the ban. Sometimes I think about what made me listen to certain music at certain times. Yesterday I listened to some early Lightning Hopkins and followed up with a solo Paul Rutherford CD. I thought about it afterwards and realized that in both cases I wanted to hear some spare music with depth and spacious overtones. That kind of thought is about as far as I go. Having said that, I don't understand what the liner note writer in the first post was saying at all. That's probably just me. I guess I'm a simple guy.

I hear what you're saying, Jim. There's been too much bitterness around here lately, and I don't want to add to it. I'm deleting my posts on this subject and will dance (as well as I can).

I actually began reading this after seeing the PBS series. The miniseries is very entertaining. It concentrates on the members of the Durrell family and friends and family (as it almost has to). I find the book fascinating because there is at least as much, if not more, concentration on the natural world - which I have to admit I wouldn't have thought would interest me much until I read it. I have the second volume of the Corfu trilogy on order from a friend's bookstore. Unfortunately, the third volume, The Garden of the Gods, is out of print and seems to be available only at high prices - plus our library system doesn't have a copy. Perhaps the success of the PBS series will bring it back into print.

I'm not doubting what you wrote, but Dave Brubeck in a knife fight is something that's outside of my imagination. Perhaps I need to expand my imagination.
