Interesting to compare Bud Freeman's playing in the mid-1930s with his playing in 1960. I enjoy both.

I used to have this filed under M, since Misha Mengelberg's name is listed first and he did the arrangements. Listening this time, it sounded so much like a cooperative effort with Herbie Nichols' compositions to the fore, that I'm filing it after Mr. Nichols' own recordings. (Not that any of this means anything to anyone other than myself. )

I don't keep up with that world, so I thought all of them were merely candidates. That makes it an even scarier, screwed up world than I imagined.
