I've always taken "Hates California, it's cold and it's damp" as a humorous/sarcastic comment (even if untrue) on California written by a Manhattan born and based theatre songwriter.
He did recordings in 1992 with Archie Shepp and Von Freeman for his own YAL label that showed he was still open and searching at an age when many other musicians would not have been.
Thank you, Mr. Lateef.
Milestones has received many good recommendations. The bottom line with Trane's music is to listen to as much of it as you can. You can't fully understand his later recordings without knowing his early ones. And vice versa. We should be grateful that so much of his music is available for us to listen to.
I thought that everything had been issued on Ace.
What am I missing? I've got
I'm a king bee
Shake your hips
Tip on in
Best of (which has different takes to some cuts)
Oh - I see I haven't got this live one
Sting it then
Better put that on my list for 2014.
Is there anything else, Guv?

There's this one http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000005KIH/ref=mp_s_a_1_12?qid=1387325147&sr=8-12&pi=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70
And there's this one:

A CD collection compiled from two Flyright LPs (minus three cuts) - recordings from the Jay Miller Archives which never made it it to Excello. Being a Slim Harpo completist can get pretty involved.
I'm not a fan of most "polite" music or of the MJQ usually, but I listened to that one recently and enjoyed it. Different ears, a different time, or something.
