  8. I'm a music lover and I've got a number of these audiophile 45rpm sets. The smallish number I have are largely sessions I'm particularly fond of and would like to get on vinyl in the best possible fidelity. These MM sets tick all these boxes although I've now slowed up purchasing them with none in the last year or so. Their downside is expense and bulk- they take up a lot of cash and shelf space. I don't think I'll be going for any of the 33rpm issues they're planning. I'm sure there are music lovers who have purchased Music Matters LPs. I've purchased a decent number of audiophile sets myself (though not Music Matters). I just think that these LPs are played up in the audiophile press whose audience tends to be equipment buffs rather than music lovers. In the end, I wonder how many people who purchase Music Matters 45s go on to buy and listen to music that's not presented in an audiophile manner.
  9. I hope all of us take time to remember and appreciate those who are still with us as well as those who have left us.

  13. At this point in time, I wonder who the audience for this stuff is. Almost all of It (and probably all of it) has been released so many times, including on audiophile LPs, that everyone who has an interest must have heard it by now. I guess there are audiophiles (as opposed to music lovers) who are still looking for new recordings to check out their gear with.

  16. I have to say that I have more music to listen to than I have time to listen, so it's not a big deal to me if there are more reissues in 2014. However, if Nessa Records received a grant to do some new recordings, I'd make time to listen to those, whatever they might be.
  17. Good news! Hope you enjoy your new job.

  20. Just crossed my mind that there's an 8+ minute duet cut with Cecil Taylor and Tony Williams on the latter's The Joy of Flying album. Years ago, I recall hearing a fairly long set on WKCR from the tapes of this session. There was much more than that cut. It would be great if someone (JLH, possibly?) could release the whole deal. Or perhaps Mosaic could do something. They don't release CD singles anymore, but maybe an LP. I imagine that this music exists somewhere on the internet - probably in not so great sound.
  21. I was surprised that The Times obituary played up the fact that the Bihari brothers gave themselves writing credit on songs and that the family still controls the publishing rights to those songs. Often times, when someone dies, the dirty laundry is buried with them.
  22. I saw the photo and recognized Corea. I have no interest in either musician, so it didn't mean anything to me except another screw up by The Times. What else is new?
