  2. My wife bugs me occasionally about not letting other people know about the music I listen to. Chuck's anecdote is the main reason I tend not to.
  3. OK - Both of you are reminding me of records that I have in my collection and haven't listened to in years, and you're both making me guilty about buying new music when I have already have more than enough to listen to. An old, old story.
  4. Rabbit Maranville Chip Monck Chuck Nessa
  5. Didn't know that. My version includes those lines. An unedited reissue, I guess. The single that was released in the 60's was edited. When it was released 20 some years later on album and cd, it was unedited. I'm not sure if the original album version was unedited, but I tend to doubt it.

  7. The heat finally broke today. Should be a couple days of relief.
  8. Thanks for the replies.
  9. I'd read that story somewhere else. Similar to the story about Sam Cooke writing "A Change Is Gonna Come" after hearing Dylan's "Blowin' in the Wind". RCA cut the lines saying, "I go to the movies/And I go downtown/A man tells me not to hang around/It's been a long time coming/But I know a change is gonna come". The reason given was that the song was too long. Believe that one if you want to.
  10. Axl Rose Jalen Rose Pete Rose edit: Posting those names stuck in my craw.
  11. From what I've read and heard, Fahey had enough of a contrary and quirky character that he'd write and say things just to get a reaction from people. The "sleight of hand" thing you mention probably comes into play too.
  12. I'm not much a a Fred Hersch fan, though I haven't heard a lot of his playing. What I have heard hasn't led me to seek out more. Always sounded to me as if he played like a banker. I have no problem with his opinions and probably agree with more than I don't.
  13. The Mets must have the worst relief pitching in the major leagues. Again, I'm not a Mets fan, but I've been watching them lately. Frustrating to watch their bullpen throw away games.
  14. I have no problem with someone expressing his opinions. Was this interview more mean spirited than the Miles blindfold test? Everyone's entitled to their opinions. Some just hold more meaning for me than others.
  15. Gordon Jump Skip Spence Willie Hoppe
  16. Probably everyone knows the answer to this but me, but I'll ask it anyway. When Amazon lists recording details as: Format: Import; Label: PID, does PID mean public domain, bootleg, or what?
  17. Art Farmer Steve Cropper Jolly Rancher
  18. Thanks for posting the link.
  19. Thanks, Ms. Wells.
  20. What the Knicks need is someone who will keep the ball out of Antony's hands. Once he gets hold of the ball, everyone else may just as well go back down the court and get the defense set up.
  21. The Magnificent Goldberg J.S. Bach Richard Bock
  22. Joseph Spence was a wonderful original. It does bug me when people mention Joseph Spence and Ry Cooder in the same breath. Ry Cooder isn't worthy of that.

  24. Hey Tom - The Happiest of Birthdays to You - and I hope you have the day off and aren't out in the heat we're going to be hit with today.
