The CD version (heresy here on the vinyl thread?) adds a second recording - The Swingville All-Stars - with Taft Jordan, Hilton Jefferson, Al Sears, Don Abney, Wendell Marshall, and Gus Johnson - a nice addition. I remember that Joe hipped me to this, perhaps back on the old BN Board, when I was looking to hear more Hilton Jefferson.

Recorded in my old home base of Iowa City (and Anthony's sole performance in the state, as far as I know) if I'm not mistaken! I'd like to have it one day if only for the curiosity. How is it? I've been listening to things I haven't listened to in a while to decide whether to keep them or not. This is a keeper. Surprisingly - or not, depending on your point of view - I enjoyed bassist Ron Rohovit's and drummer Phil Haynes' playing as much as I did Paul Smoker's and Anthony Braxton's.

Damn! The reschedule was a terrible no-show.

Heard a Sunny Murray led band with (as far as I can remember) with Alan Shorter, Charles Tyler, Marion Brown, Bennie Maupin, Grachan Moncur III, Joel Freedman, Henry Grimes, and at least one other musician whom I can't recall. Not a working band - just a band put together for a college gig in Buffalo. After the gig, I talked to Charles Tyler and he said that he, Sunny Murray, Joel Freedman, and Henry Grimes were going to Toronto for a gig there.
