  1. It's too bad they have to play each other in the semi. I would have liked to have seen the possibility of both of those teams in the final.
  2. Two classic records that have never found their way to CD: Art Hodes/Truck Parham: Plain Old Blues (Eamarcy) Rev. Robert Wilkins (Piedmont) I have an LP copy of the Rev. Robert Wilkins - a GREAT record that's never been reissued - but would buy a CD reissue. Have never heard Plain Old Blues & would like to.

  10. Chuck has weighed in on this: - post #94262. Knowing how high his standards are, his comments sealed it for me.
  11. There was a PBS documentary a while back about Bob Newhart. It was interesting to see and hear how much he was responsible for both of his long run television series. He wasn't just a funny guy who had shows written around him. His fellow cast members all said that he knew exactly what he wanted and was a master of getting the timing of lines right, even when he might not have been directly involved in a scene. I ended up with a lot more respect for him and his talents after watching that documentary. Wonder if the BBC documentary was the same as the PBS one, or if the BBC did its own.
  12. Riff Ruffin Ruffian The Rough Riders
  13. Honeyboy Edwards is probably the last of that generation of bluesmen. BB's there too, but he's a youngster compared to Pinetop and Honeyboy.
  14. Duke Ellington: "There are two kinds of music. Good music, and the other kind."

  19. Reminds me of an aquaintance who was/is a fanatical record collector. Years ago, he and his wife were invired to a wedding and he told his wife he needed a new suit. Her reply: "Why don't you wear your records?"
  20. Willie Dixon The Hoochie Coochie Man Charo

  22. In the Pitt/Butler game, the Pitt player made a bonehead play by grabbing the Butler rebounder's arm, even though they were 90 feet away from the Butler offensive basket. It's not up to the refs to cover up when a player makes a knuckleheaded play. It was an blatant foul, and the ref had to call it. Not sticking up for bad refereeing, and there's been some of that, but obvious fouls are obvious fouls, and they should be called. On another note, is there a team in the tournament that's more entertaining to watch than VCU? Joey Rodriguez has amazing energy, strength for a guard, and court sense/composure. He's the best point guard I've seen in the tournament. Hope I don't jinx him him by saying that.
  23. Hercules Hercule Poirot Pierrot le Fou
  24. Unbelievable ending. Two foolish fouls in the last two seconds. Can't remember ever seeing anything like that before.
  25. Ryne Duren Percy Dovetonsils Henry Gibson
