  3. I used to watch the Olympics, but I have no interest anymore. The politics, drug aided performances, using under age gymnasts, whatever else teams/people do to win - I'll pass.

  5. 71 isn't THAT old. I don't know what happened, but people can drive badly/crazy or just have an accident at any age. Hope I don't have to quit driving when I hit 71 - though if my driving skill have eroded, I hope that I will.

  12. Even though you can't place an insurance value on things that are priceless, I'm sure that Universal has.

  15. Pretty much the same here. And I think Trane proved to be a negative influence on a number of other sax players. Amen to that. Can you say Art Pepper? Up over and out. Not Trane's fault, and not anything to do with him, for that matter.

  22. Charles Reznikoff, Gilbert Sorrentino, Paul Blackburn, August Kleinzahler, Edward Dorn, Jonathan Williams, Robert Creeley, and Basil Bunting are some 20th century poets I've enjoyed reading. I remember reading somewhere (believe it was in John Berendt's book on Venice) that Ezra Pound's wife/companion wouldn't allow people to visit him late in his life unless they were able to quote some lines from his poetry. As I sit here, I realize that I can quote very few lines from the above poets, so I wonder how well I've read their poems - not well at all, I fear.
