  1. Give me a minute, I'm in the middle of auditioning a new bass player.
  2. My bad, thanks Jim.
  3. Just going to take it easy tonight. Not much planned for most of Saturday, until around 7:30 that is. BIG plans for Saturday night. Going to see Junior Mance, Jeff Hamilton, Ricky Woodard, John Clayton, Guy Barker, Bill Waltrous, and a mess of others. This should to be a good time, plenty of great music and cocktails. I will be spending the night at the resort hosting the jam session. Sunday, sleep in a bit, do the normal routine, and then off to a buds house for an evening cook out and veiwing of the Sopranos.
  4. Oh hell yes I'm here, and watch it sucka! Mr. "leave catesta in the dust and pass 3200 posts in record time" man, I've warned you before about posting the image of that wonderful nectar just to tease me. The gloves are off!
  5. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the 2004 season. Dan, with Schilling added you guys have a real good shot this year. I'll add some predictions of my own real soon. B)
  6. I hope to pick another one up one of these days, a guy down the street had a black 71 Spider for sale, but in really poor condition. The Fiat X-1/9 was a fun car to drive as well, unfortunately they don't do so well in the extreme desert heat.
  7. That's a scarey thought.
  8. Lon, I remember my dad getting stuck in the snow with the Alfa during a winter in Ohio. The car would not make it up the slope at the end of the driveway. Obviously he did not understand the "too light" concept.
  9. Alfa Romeo!! At one time my dad owned a 1974 GTV and a 1975 Spider. The GTV was kept until the mid-eighties. The car was very fun to drive.
  10. Could be they are overhauling the site.
  11. Not exactly sure, but didn't Chris Albertson make mention of seeing Elvin using a walker a couple of months ago?
  12. Total bullshit if you ask me. I know for a fact you cannot have more than 182.5 birthdays in a 12 month period. From now on, I will be sending my gifts to him every other day. Deus my friend, you are busted! P.S. In case I don't log on tomorrow, Happy Birthday!
  13. I knew someday you would come around to my way of thinking.
  14. April In Paris = Count Basie
  15. Help yourself to some punch and cupcakes brought in today by little Chuck Nessa.
  16. No disclaimer necessary. I must have seen them while on the same tour, except for me I think it was Spring 1977. I went with my older brother and his friends. I saw Cheap Trick again later that year with The Cars. B) My first jazz concert was 1974 in Ohio, Duke Ellington's band under the direction of Mercer Ellington. My dad took me, I was able to relate to songs I had heard played on his turn table before, but obviously way too young to appreciate any of it. At that time I would have rather been riding the bumper cars.
  17. I agree. Between this board, and places like Sudden Thoughts (and others, not going to try and name them all!), I get more than I ever got from the in print jazz press. Word. It's tough to find a more informed group then we have here. On one hand it's nice to see DB respond and admit it was a fuck up, on the other hand, what they did was pure stupidity.
  18. Touching story. The players of today and MLB in general should be thrilled to donate portions of their big fat paychecks to the players of yesterday that are in need. No matter what league they played in, period.
  19. Tough call, but I think in the long run you will be better off giving the full refund.
  20. Obviously it is their turn. Knock on wood this place has been running with no problems.
  21. Well then, allow me to prepare myself. Psssst....one is bigger than the other.
  22. At least he lived a long full life. Some great quotes. RIP Alistair Cooke
