I hated to hear this, and I know nothing further; I'm just reporting what I have heard and hope is wrong. The source I heard this from I won't mention unless he agrees to allow me. Let's just hope things are ironed out and we can enjoy the box set in time. If I hear anything further, I'll update the thread.
  2. Neither, this and a Hawaii concert two cd set have been released by a British company that purports to be "official" but is actually a company that has been releasing boots. . . . I'm puzzled that these have been distributed. Perhaps the estate has made an arrangement for these, but there is nothing anywhere that I have located that makes mention of autorization.

I've actually heard from someone who spoke with Stollman that the box set WON'T be coming out because as the estate's agent (I guess?) he's opposed to it. That's bad news I hope is ultimately not going to be made true.
  4. Those are just remixes of tracks from the Axis album on disc one, I've heard. Disc Two has some very interesting material not related to the original album. I have over sixty Hendrix releases . . . mostly of course unofficial. I find that much of the unreleased material I like better than the released. I feel about Hendrix's music the way that I feel about Monk's, Miles', Mingus', Ellington-Strayhorn's and some others: I find value in all that I have heard.
  5. What? You didn't know that Hoagland was born in Bloomington, Indiana? Where ya been?
  6. That was my understanding as well. Maybe they'll slipcase the two cd sets together in a "limited edition." I'm gonna buy 'em all one way or another.
  7. Damn, if they don't release ALL those jam sessions that were released (and there MIGHT be some extra material surrounding the released) I'll be PISSED!
  8. I'm sure they will release more. . . they just won't be in this numbered series.
  9. This is the last one folks! The last one! Til they announce a new limited edition series. .. .
  10. Yes, In A Silent Way never did have a metal spine. I figured that may have been because it was "A New Direction in Music." Okay, if that were the case the Quintet box would have only a half-assed spine. So here's the 64 dollar question: will #3 have a metal spine?
  11. Those McShann sides (which have also been released on other labels, notably the Jass (maybe, one of the Stash labels) and Masters of Jazz, are FANTASTIC! "Swingmatism"! I tried to get a friend of mine to name his little swing/jump unit that but he didn't. . . went with "The Barons of Rhythm" which is cool (a name of a Basie band at the Rheno Club in KC).
  12. Damn, you're right, I keep forgetting! Are we still battling the Red Menace? Oh now it's Terrorism now. I get so confused.
  13. There, I've jettisoned mine away. We can delete any topic we start I think; there is a little "Moderation Options" field down in the left corner. Hans showed me that trick some time ago--thanks Hans! I think this is a stinking lousy gimmick, this deleting the spined sets! And it would work on me if I didn't have these already; I like the metal spined sets!
  14. Heck, I'll delete mine.
  15. I guess my sanity's probably in question once again. I've beat those tests before!
  16. Okay, the board finally let me log on! I'm there now as Pops Fan. I started a Una Mae Carlisle thread. I think her time has come. She LOOKS JUST LIKE NORAH JONES!
  17. I've actually grown to like this one. . . .
  18. It wasn't this one was it?
  19. I think more and more I like the VeeJay work as much as the Blue Note, but I chose Night Dreamer. I listen to less and less Wayne, but this one I listen to most often the last few years. Love the JRVG.
  20. All those Verve jams will be great to have on cd, and I believe only the one including Parker was officially released on cd (I could be wrong). I've enjoyed them for a while. Not ground-breaking, but great to hear, and different (to my ears at least) than the JATP performances. . . a bit less "grandstanding". . . . ("Grantzstanding?") All the Jazztet material will be great to have under one roof as well, especially done the "Mosaic way"!
  21. They are rather hard to find. Are you lookingfor the lps or will cds do? Song of Singing was a cd I believe, Profile was a Japanese RVG cd. Odyssey of Isaka was on cd several times domestically. They may actually be easier to find than the lps. Or not--I have not been lp hunting in some time, so I am unable to really assess the process. If you are willing to settle for "digital reproductions" of these, send me a private message, I can help you out with these "digital reproduction" wise.
  22. Well, I registered there, and even got a message from administration with my name and password. . . . But when I log in it won't take those and tells me someone already has that name and password. Yes, that would be ME. Oh well.
  23. The only Rhino Handmade I've experienced so far is the Percy Mayfield. . . A MAGNIFICENT cd release. I never heard these Atlantic sides sound so good! And great music with "the Genius" on hand for about 85%.
  24. Sheesh. Now the other half has arrived. I'll let you know if I see something funny.
  25. Okay whatever weiz. I haven't seen Danny's outrageous behavior because it hasn't been on threads where I have been. And if I ever see a post of yours I consider funny, I'll be sure to point it out. Stick a cigar in it and have a good one. What you know of Texans could fill a thimble!
